Frazz by Jef Mallett for January 20, 2017
Transcript:
Caulfield: If you got put in charge, who would you favor and who would you shaft? Frazz: You know, if I'm going to play god, I'd just as soon get the golden rule down before I graduate to judging. Caulfield: That was quite the answerful non-answer. Frazz: Like the musicians say, the melody is in the rests.

Be careful Caulfield, you may not like the answer. They need teachers more than smart-aleck students.

‘Melody is in the rests.’ I learned something new today! Says the non-musician.

Claude Debussy (1862-1918) said, “Music is the space between the notes.” Miles Davis (1926-1991) said, “It’s not the notes you play, it’s the notes you don’t play.”

Hmmm, why does the comment feature insist that my name is Comics Com? I’ve edited my profile, but it still displays Comics Com. Do I have to pay now to use another name?

Today and tomorrow could answer his question in trumps.

However, intended or not, someone or many would believe, or feel that they are put upon and not favored. Or that you favor someone more than them.

“Judge not that ye be not judged.” Sounds familiar.

Some have a jaundiced eye to this comic or they wouldn’t be here. So take their comments with the grain of potassium cyanide it is delivered with.
This is an uplifting comic, not full of hard cynicism.

False modesty? Despite certain claims to the contrary, I cannot recall ever seeing Frazz claim to be great about anything. At least he’s not being judgmental or “obsessively over analytical”. (Do you remember who said those words?)

There’s a general consensus that John Cage overdid that melody in the rests concept.
