Happy Birthday Rose! I had it on my calendar even without your reminder. I don’t think women can be geezers. For men, I think it allows certain privileges. There was a commentary in AARP a while back about “geezing” the young women in the neighborhood.
My sister’s husband was “old” by the age of 50 (if not sooner), because he thought of himself that way. Now he is 69 and he looks at least 80. In fact, he looked 80 a few years ago. He hasn’t had a job in the past 40 years, relying on my sister to earn the family’s living while he just sat at home watching TV all day.
You’re as old as you feel. Age is just a number. I don’t know you personally, but I doubt if you’re at the “geezer” stage yet. My sister’s husband has been a geezer for about 20 years.
Sounds like my late mother, for as far back as I could remember, she would say she couldn’t do this or that or wear any latest fashion, because she was too old. And what would people think. Well I dress like a 20 year old and I don’t care what people think. It rubs off, I don’t look my age!
Happy Birthday to you, BBEAR! – Happy Birthday to you, Last Summer Rose! – Happy Birthday to you, JP Steve! – Happy Birthday to all of you I forgot to mention!
.
I’m still online with my daughter’s laptop. Hope to get my new PC soon.
“Geezer” is basically slang (largely used in Cockney speaking territories) for a man. Women aren’t geezers. They’re “Richards.”
One of the oddities I’ve noted is that people who don’t speak Cockney as a first language tend to use the entire slang word instead of the abbreviated non-rhyming component.
So instead of -
“So, this iron walks in wearing a fancy whistle and starts giving us porkies”
- you get -
“This iron hoof walks in wearing a fancy whistle and flute and starts giving us pork pies” – which is a lot more ungainly.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LAST ROSE OF SUMMER – I hope your day is as special as you are. In fact, I hope it is purrfect! Better hurry to the Tiki for a piece of cake before I get there. I love birthday cake!
Happy Birthday Last Rose!! My parents have always firmly believed in acting and dressing how you feel rather than your actual age and they both are mistaken for much younger than the early 70’s that they are so continue on behaving as you like :-)
Picked up some storage units at IKEA the other day which pleased the boys – it is so fascinating watching your humans put things together especially when you “help” and there’s always boxes to play in. I also bought them a doll’s bed to sleep on so they’d quit fighting over the cardboard scratcher (it’s the best to sleep on apparently though I don’t think it can be comfortable). Wasn’t sure they’d use it but Dean’s decided it’s okay for napping though he only just fits on it – http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss159/pookybearharris/Vancouver%20area%20snaps/local%20pics/027_zpsqtafjfgo.jpg
Rose, I’m going to wish you a most wonderful birthday here on TEN CATS rather than travel over to Ballard Street. If there is any left-over cake we’d sure appreciate some.

Happy Birthday, Rose! If old men are geezers, does that make old women geezettes? You’re not really old until you start thinking you’re old.
