Flo: You could avoid gettin' yawr boat stuck at low tide if you'd just check the tide chahts, Eddie... Eddie: That'd be a conflict of interest, Flo. Ned: Um...what? Eddie: I've got my OWN time table that suits MY agender, and I'm not gonna let some egghead scientists mess with it! Flo: So....reality is subjective? Eddie: A-yeh...it's in the constitution! Look it up. Ned:...In the cable news section of wikipedia?

And we’ve entered the administrative zone where the Constitution is also subjective!

Besides the real word for alternative facts is lies….The last time I rented a kayak at the Flamingo area of the Florida Everglades, the guy asked if I had a tide chart, I did, but I took his anyway, just in case I printed mine out wrong. I did… anyway, I joked that if I was dumb enough to get stuck out on the mud flats I’d just have to wait for the next high tide. He seemed surprised at my calm demeanor about such a prospect. Apparently, some guy got stuck out the day before and was on his cell phone demanding to be rescued. Seriously, you are dumb enough to get stuck out on low tide and you are going to freak out? Unless there is bad weather, it’s not going to happen, because nothing short of a helicopter is going to get to you, and really isn’t worth the expense. Just hunker down, take a nap, there will be another high tide. Just in case, he told me where to put the kayak….BTW, I did not miss my time table. When it comes to tides, it’s about the only time I use a watch with an alarm function when I’m on a vacation. Much as I’m sure I would be OK in such a situation, I’d much rather not end up there. Mostly as the mud flats of Florida Bay, there is no walking across them. You will sink, get stuck, then definitely need to be rescued before the next high tide. Never tried it, but there are some things best learned from the mistakes of others. ;)BTW, I rent kayaks when I venture down there, because it’s just too much of a pain in the butt to strap one on top of my truck camper. One of my favorite places, but there are so many to see… hopefully it will still be there when I can venture down again some winter…

If our southern border weren’t so long I’d propose a wall to keep your “alternative facts” members OUT

Actually, the moral here is ‘believe what you want to believe.’
Seems to be the national moral, too.

Tide denial. That shiny thing in the night sky couldn’t possibly effect a whole ocean.

Reality is subjective? Well, if an observer changes what he is observing by merely observing it, then that must be true?

If only the consequences of alt-faykt “thinking” were restricted to the people using it.

Whoa. Intentional or not, Flo nailed it. Reality can only ever he subjective. Nothing can be experienced directly. The universe is always observed at at least one remove by an sensory organ of limited range and an interpretive mind that is notoriously subject to all manner of distortion. In fact, “reality” is a mere illusion. Not only can you never know what it is, you can never even imagine what it might be. You can’t even say you and someone else agree on what it is, because you can never know just how their illusory reality appears to them. So, you might as well accept that you create your own reality, because you unquestionably do.
.And Ronberg, there is no better illustration than that at the most fundamental level where the truest of realities should be found, the level of quantum effects, the observer does indeed alter the actual physical reality by observing it.

If you pretend reality does not exist, it will make sure you don’t exist.

No, Eddie’s contrary idea is not “Reality vs Subjectivity” but rather “Reality vs Lunacy”. Get it?

Actually, I’m surprised that Eddie doesn’t just claim that the Scientific Calculated Tide Carts are “Fake Science” and/or “Fake News”. Of course our President is the hands down winner when it comes to “Fake News”.

I’m sorry, Wiley; making Capt’in Eddy as obnoxious as Trump is something beyond even your story-telling abilities. Nobody is going to believe that a fictional character could be so bereft of any redeeming qualities.
