Calvin once said, “Getting an inch of snow is like winning ten cents in the lottery.”

I too, wished for snow days. I won a few and lost some too.

Back when my grandmother was growing up in the Imperial Valley, they didn’t have snow days but they had MUD days. After a heavy winter rain the local dirt roads were totally impassible and the school bus couldn’t pick up the farm kids out in the country!

You need to move to Portland Oregon, 2 snowflakes and school is cancelled. Heck during our latest snow event school was cancelled for 9 days! The kids will get out for summer sometime in July.

The town I grow up in hardly cancelled school for snow. One time school got cancelled for snow during my senior year and that afternoon it cleared up and the snow was melting. Yet, doing my sister’s last year of high school in December we had a storm that had whiteout conditions. It happened during the time school was getting out. School should’ve been let at noon. It took some kids two hours to get home when it should’ve took only ten minutes.
