Anybody else getting the impression that Wiley’s distaste of conservatives, (If that’s what they are!) is almost as strong as mine? doG I dislike those guys

You can say that. Danae is of the mind that looks for the angle by which she can subvert the system. That is how she rolls.

The school teaching is not called Fake news. It is the result of Liberal teachers and is called Common Core. Soon President Trump will get rid of that.

Danae, just think of this of your opportunity to prove to the world that arithmetic is wrong.

The world Is FLAT!…Let it go at that..And go out and have an Ice Cream Sundae with an Extra dollop of gooey Strawberrytopping…And practice you’re “Duck and Cover” skills…

Fake news is an important issue for the White House. It’s so important that the White House makes sure to provide an example every day. ;-)

“Fake News” and “Alternative Facts” are buzzwords. They are like the monster under the bed – stop acknowledging them and this whole thing goes away. That is, people blaming everything on them. Political lies on both sides of the isle will always occur.

You can tell Donald and the Trumpkinheads are amateurs. Real politicians tell the truth most of the time, so when they need to lie, it usually goes unnoticed (at least for a day or two).

I just wonder how many YEARS it will take America to recover after Drumpf is hauled out of the White House for the last time!

Fake news starts at the top with Bannon and Breitbart. Fox ‘news’ had to pull back on their outright lies because president gullible believes everything he sees on that station.

@MSO I think everybody recognizes those traits, but very few ever admit to owning them.

As do the lib gullibles with CNN and MSNBC………

Fake News=News that doesn’t tell me what I want to hear.

If you think NPR is “fake news” and Alex Jones is “real news,” the problem isn’t the news. It’s you, and your total lack of critical thinking ability.

And while we are on the subject of education: what about the poor quality of textbook content. Few ever offer classical or even modestly historic literature and thought, even though much of our lives is based on the institutions that produced them.

During the 1980’s, the only literature text I was offered included two stories of apocalyptic destruction of most of the human race and the resulting degradation of the human spirit. Most of my students hated both, and I, as an avid reader of 4 decades by that time, was appalled at the message and the lack of any uplifting philosophy in them.

During that period, one college made headlines with its ‘innovative’ inclusion of a full 6-hour course on the life of Madonna – the singer/actress not THE Madonna of the Bible. And now, of course we have taken ‘star worship’ to its nth degree with almost hourly displays of the emptiness that is the Kardashian desert.

Shakespeare, who added more words to the English language than any other person, and who offered reams of philosophical ‘meat’ for serious mental exercise, is no longer taught at most major ‘centers of higher learning,’ including the so-called Ivies (have to assume the ivy has grown into their brains and stultified their mental capabilities).

Teachers are required to teach the text, however poorly organized or written. Some large states require all schools to use the same texts, thereby limiting the abilities of thoughtful, well trained individuals to match materials to needs. But it simplifies buying, and It affects all other school systems in that it limits what is available from the publishers.

Teaching to the test is a survival tactic to avoid being ‘released from contract’ by statistical minded boards. Standardized tests without essay questions or other measures of depth are like thermometers with no numbers – the reported results are totally subjective and serve only to preserve the standing of the reporting district.

There was an old “Mad” magazine article about “What if comic strips were true to life?” One of the examples was “What if Dennis the Menace’s parents had normal patience?” Like you’d expect, Dennis’s father was trotting out the ol’ hairbrush on him. Joe must have the patience of two saints and half an angel to deal with Danae! (By the way, no children or hairbrushes were harmed in this post, or was any endorsement of anything whatsoever implied.)

Given our new Secretary of Education, Danae will soon only have to take a bible (New Testament) to school, a “Christian” charter school funded by tax dollars, as all traditional “public schools” will be unfounded and locked..

The larger point missed is that she is largely calling facts fake, as they are often inconvenient. Like getting up to go to school. ;)

Did anyone else notice the headlines (on the back page of the newspaper)? “Lies and more lies from WH”.
