Is Gene hinting that a new baby is in the near future?Or is he hinting that he realizes his parents are growing older?

Our eldest daughter is moving and wants us to sell and go with her. No thanks, dear.

Dad should be pretty proud that Gene & wife were able to BUY acreage at their young age. Or did her Pop sell it to them? I don’t recall…

For the sake of the strip, we’re opposed to the move. Much more humor and interest when Arlo and Janice and Beethoven are in their own neighborhood. For us, these restaurant and farm excursions are tedious.

Love the idea of Arlo and Janis moving to new digs and being closer to the kids. The extended family creates a richness to their lives and much more opportunity for new humorous adventures…AND Arlo can use his boat!

I do like the idea of Arlo, Janis, and Luddie moving to be closer to Gene and Marylou and Gus and Shrimp, and the boat. I do think there are a lot of great story possibilities. However, I will miss some of the occasional characters in their old neighborhood as well.

I really like how Gene WANTS them to move closer. It has made my appreciation for Gene grow quite a bit, and I already liked his character.

They must be located on the Mississippi coast. The beaches west of the Mississippi River aren’t that attractive.

It’s never been clear to me how far the farm is from the beach and where Gus’ old restaurant and the boat are. I gather the farm is just a few miles inland – can anyone clarify?

For those of us who have followed this strip for years, we can remember that this is the beach were the kids first met when they were very young.

Somehow I don’t think Janis will be receptive to the idea. You’d think she would welcome being nearer her son and granddaughter, but I suspect other feelings will interfere.

How about this? The comic continues as Arlo and Janis build the house and clean up loose ends where they now live, then finally move to the bayou, about a year or so from now, and at that point, the strip ends.
