As the saying goes, “How many wars were fought over relgion?” All of them.

Jesus, it took him this long to figure THAT out?

But he is such a jealous deity. He wants his creatures to worship him and won’t take no. Next time just one and only one with a book that anyone can read and all will believe. That would end it or lets not play that game instead.

Actually, some of the worst people in history were atheist or agnostic; Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc …

Next time?

Probably figured that way we are currently going, he will have a blank slate in a few decades or so

Or next time be actively involved instead of sitting on the sidelines.

Add politics and I’m right there with you.

If gods existed, they would make their presence felt.

The real problem with religion is that we still have it..

Just remember…ALL “Religious” are man-made! Created to push one particular group’s beliefs on others, or the keep illiterate peasants in line, or to just MAKE MONEY!

Blaming religions or ideologies or whatever is a pretty myopic way of letting humans off the hook for chronically ubiquitous behavior.

But then politics would be the only source of argument and conflict. Since most of the population fear any period of silence, they, naturally, would need to find something about which to raise hob. It appears ‘freedom of speech,’ is the current debate du jour.

Actually, nuclear weapons are the product of scientific technology, not religion. They’ve only been used twice, and neither time had anything to do with religion.

And North Korea is an atheist state. And anyone who thinks that either Kim Jong Un or Donald Trump is motivated by religion is a fool.

My mother once asked me why there is so much cruelty in the world. My answer; “God created man in his own image.”

Like that’s going to work if you believe the universe was created by an all powerful supernatural being.

The idea that there will be a ‘next time’ is both scary and encouraging.

People made religion as a way of explaining things, later came science – which is like a religion to a lot of people.

He didn’t need religion, human nature does it by itself.

Just a shout-out to all you atheist jerks in this comic section, atheism is classified as a religion as well.

One thing I personally find absurd is assigning a gender to the Maker and Shaper of all the Universes.

@cerabooge: politics gets as many or even more. Not that any comments provide the ultimate key to understanding either issue. Like heat under a tea kettle, they just produce steam that vaporizes in an instant and leaves only its memory

The real irony is that God really hates religion. Says so right in the Bible. What God wants is people to live their lives in a relationship with Him. Read the Gospel of John to find out more.

About “religion”. The assumption is that “God is on our side”, and that goes back to stone idols, mysticism, even aetheism is often a dedicated from of belief as strong as believing in a deity. “Religion” and war DOES include also the dominance of one group convinced they are the sole power that should possess all land and the peoples therein. Greed IS also as much a religion to some as any other form of worship and submission. Power is with the believer, right?

Do God’s thunderbolts go “zot!” anymore, or was that only way back in caveman days?

(Totally off the subject) Wiley, Several weeks ago, while visiting Stonehenge, I told some of the staff about your Stonehenge cartoon, but I didn’t give it away! I told them to google “Wiley_Miller Non_Sequitur Stonehenge”. They seemed fascinated by the info. I hope they followed through!

I’m not an Atheist, I’m a-theist. It’s not a religion.

I’m on God’s side with this.

After reading all of the comments so far, all I can say is I hope that if there is a God, that He/She/It has a very, very, very good sense of humor.

So many of today’s comments have a thread of animosity and bitterness running through them. Others are self congratulatory (“Look at me – I’m too smart to believe in God!”)

If only those who feel that way could begin to “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” (Ephesians 3: 17-18) those feelings would dissolve away.

I don’t pretend to understand everything, but I know this – We Need Jesus.

If I could prove God exists, it wouldn’t be faith, it would be called science.

How about, just no “smart primates” next time? The human race is pathetic, at best, and demonic at worst.
