So, it wasn’t just MY town where fires were the pinnacle of entertainment in the 50s, I guess.

Back when asbestos had only good connotations.

Sluggo only runs for the ice cream truck bell.

Interesting that the Greek word “asbestos” describes a fire that is never quenched…

Back during this time period, Aunt Fritzi, Sluggo and Phil EACH had their OWN daily strip, plus about half a page of color comics each on Sunday. It would be GRAND if Go Comics would decide to add Aunt Fritzi, Sluggo and Phil CLASSIC strips to their Nancy offerings! Back in those days, Aunt Fritzi and Phil usually spent most of their dating time either swimming at the beach, or swimming at a nearby pool or lake! Of course, if Go Comics could just limber up a bit on the CLASSIC SUNDAY comics – it would soon become obvious that ONE of the reasons why print newspapers began losing subscribers was because they foolishly cut the comic pages down to nothing worth the cost of subscribing to the newspaper!

Today, kids wouldn’t be running toward the place. Today they’d have multiple hazmat teams onsite and probably a mass evacuation as well.
