Yes, thank you for your service. But we have many, many other heroes like teachers, firefighters, ER docs, nurses, kind sales people, OT & PT personel, social workers, etc, etc that also need some thanks and honor. Remember them too.

Well, why not join a branch of the military. Join a National Guard unit. All services have them from the Army, Navy, Air Force and the USMC. Even the smallest military service has a reserve/guard unit. That would be the US Coast Guard. Fewer than 1% of Americans join up and the vast majority of them are from military service families. I am a disabled Vietnam Vet. HS class of 68. I volunteered. The fact that so very few volunteer is insane. However, the fact that 1 out of 3 who want to sign up are obese, have a chronic disease, or both is a very poor view of our younger generationsDOD is right to be very worried about our future with so very many obese or Diabetic young people we will be unable to have enough people sign up to defend our country

Why not make our govt not spend their lives for things that are not directly involved in defense of the Plutocracy? Since 1945 I cannot think of one war that the US was in that helped us or defended us. In many cases it just started a long series of attacks from those countries and sympathizers as you find in any rebel response to a giant super power.

I just answered questions on an MSN poll. 1. Do you fly the flag on Memorial Day. 2 What do you do to honor veterans on Memorial Day. 3. Do you now or have you ever served in the military? I checked yes (for my husband and I both) 32%-Yes 68%-No. Some times I think we need the draft again. Or mandatory 2 years of service for men and women, so that such a small percentage of Americans aren’t the ones serving and being deployed over and over again till if they aren’t KIA they are so damaged by PTSD, loss of limbs, or TBI that they can’t live normal lives ever again. (Unless you have heel spurs-donald)
