Same expression for Spacy whether he gets $1000 or is running away in fear as usual.

Nice of the bum to give Spacy the money and then an envelope to put it in.

In Slimedroppers, Testicle Chin’s evil twin offers advice that Thick should take.

Apparently that isn’t Mullet Head who now accosts Thick.

Who can blame Thick if his eyes pop open? Magically-appearing enevlopes would do that to anyone. And who knew that Thick had blue eyes?

If Thick looks like he’s broke “in spirit only,” then Homeless Guy must be Blind Pew.

Meanwhile, that Biblical deluge ended with impressive speed. Now will Thick remember to look at Homeless Guy, and even–if we truly live in an Age of Wonders–use his Wrist Geenee to take a picture of his phizz, or scan and record his DNA, or otherwise do something useful?

It would be astonishing if Locher remembers that Thick is supposed to investigate crime, and if he comes up with something that can pass muster as a crime.

Radish, that may be where Locher is taking this arc. Maybe Locher sees unmotivated acts of charity, and anonymous rewards given to good citizens, and the exposure of corporate criminals, as crimes against society. I’m tapped out on rational explanations.

So far Thick has said that he’s looking for a cousin and a friend, and now a long-lost associate. If continuity meant anything here, I’d wonder why he didn’t work out a story before he hit the streets. And I’m really impressed by the way Homeless Guy’s hat and coat change colors.

And what is with this “our kind” jive? This sounds like something you would hear in Victorian England. “Our kind is more than ‘arf satisfied with a shilling for a pint, guv’nor, and we’re not puttin’ on airs afore our betters, m’lord!”

Be suspicious of someone offering valuable condoms.

I don’t believe for a minute that James Coburn would hand out thousand dollar bills like that. I particularly do not believe that he would crawl from his grave to do it. Please note that I am not saying that he would not crawl from his grave, just that he would have better, cooler things to do than hand out cash.

So what does Thick do next? Return the money, telling Homeless Guy that he doesn’t need to burden himself with so much cash? This would ingratiate Thick to Homeless Guy and allow him to furtrher investigate his doings. But isn’t it time for Locher to make another huge and illogical jump in the narrative thread?

Locher making …”Another huge and illogical jump” ?

You’re reading his mind BillT, but perhaps that’s not too difficult - he’s been making them for the past 11 weeks !

And LudwigVonDrake, I guess it’s easy to spot that it’s ‘not raining’ there’s nothing of real consequence to grab our attention.

Sydney Phillips, my theory du jour is that Locher believes the real crime is the giving away of money by Homeless Guy. Maybe he thinks it’s a crime against society if a rich man gives away money without seeking publicity. D-cubed is probably working with Sue Doko to bribe politicians and do other good deeds (in this theory, the We’re-Lyin’ gang exist only to show the extent of D-cubed’s activities.)

It may turn out that he has amnesia and Sue Doko is manipulating him. Here we are at Day 79 of Realism Held Hostage, and Locher’s vagueness has left the way open for him to create almost any explanation from what he’s shown.

Powerful point on Locher’s studied vaugeness BillT !

It’s been a vacuous story but leaves doors open for a choice of several possible endings - whatever strikes his fancy when he sits down to write it.

And simple people will call this charade a great MYSTERY story.

I suspect it may go down as the worst Dick Tracy story of all time.

Tigger, the one dollar bill that Thick made must be especially confusing to people whose newspaper only carry DT on Sunday. “Tracy made a dollar today?” they might ask. “Is his salary now performance-based? Or has he joined a gang of counterfeiters as their apprentice? How did he encounter Rowdy Roddy Piper? Did he literally sniff him out like a hound dog?”

Your logic is impeccable, Night-Gaunt49, but you have to remember that Locher’s reasoning bears no resemblance to that of any known dimension. At a guess, Thick will now enter Homeless Guy’s life and meet some of his cohorts, only to be exposed when someone notices his Wrist Geenee.

Does anyone know the abilities of the Wrist Geenee?

I keep expecting Sue Doko to show up as one of Homeless Guy’s confederates.

Simon, if reading today’s strip got you all worked up to the point where you are losing self control, I’d like to suggest something else that makes Dickie Tracy look tame. Ex-Surgeon-General Jocelyn (sp?) Elders has the suggestion.

And it’s raining heavily again, and Thick has regained his cap in a forlorn effort to hide his own boneheadedness, and still no confirm-or-deny on whether that was D-cubed, or even a hint that Thick used his Wrist Geenee to collect data on the people he’s encountered. Thick actually seems to consider the possibility that there may be more than one mysterious benefactor passing out thousand dollar bills in the guise of a homeless person. He still doesn’t know what crime is involved here, but he doesn’t want to arrest the wrong person for it.

And worst of all, nothing yet from Wonder Warthog!

Looking at Sunday’s installment, the few panels of 3D make him look like Penny is his grandmother. No wonder he got the heck away from her.

Monday’s strip makes me wonder if Thick isn’t thicker than we think. 3D hands Macy a $1 K bill and Macy is so awestricken with his new status of being “rich” that 3D is able to walk away from the street scene and Macy doesn’t even see him leave. He’s probably thinking of getting some 20” wheels and spinners for his ride!

I wonder if D-cubed’s “3-D projection technology” is at play here. It could explain why Mullet Head and Rowdy Roddy Resemblance look so much alike and how they vanish. Of course it would be physically impossible for a projected image to hand anyone a physical object, but as we learned at the Stuka Shoot-out, the laws of physics must vacate for the strip’s requirements.

BillThompson is oh so right! I faithfully read and sit quietly (if ya can’t say something nice, etc etc) but “That’s all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more!”

The Monday strip removes any and all doubt that our hero, once the embodiment of tough, fearless and intelligent law enforcement, has become something that doesn’t even rise to the level of a parody of the past exploits.
