Flo: So if the Ekert and the anti-Ekert evah met, it'd be the end of the wahld? Captain Eddie: THe end of the entiah univahse, actually. But we'll be safe... as long as the Ekert is kept in the sacred vessel of nay-chaw. And he has to stay in theah until we find the anti-Ekert. Kate: Oh... Danae: So what is this sacred vessel? Captain Eddie: I'll show ya... Flo: Whoa! Wait a minute... Kate: No... Danae: ... way! To be, oh yes way continued.

Bug-eyed Kate and Danae are a hoot. The Sacred Vessel sounds like something left lying around by Indiana Jones….

NAY-CHAW kept me puzzled for a while, had to mumble it to figure it out. Maine accent is sooo different from the Oxford English they teach over here in Germany

Nah! It has to be…
An empty can of Copenhagen!pbarnrob about 14 years ago
Let the speculation commence anew!
Hmmm; a Walnut Shell? Or an Acorn? Has to be ubiquitous, found everywhere. Or is it manufactured? The Campbell’s Tomato Soup can (re-sealed)? At least the Copenhagen can has a lid that could be closed. Will it need air-holes?
Brockie about 14 years ago
Gawd but I love this strip, the characters, the magnificent art, the wit……makes my day to begin with this…
cdward about 14 years ago
^Well, he did say Nay-Chaw, so that would indicate something not artificial (sorry Copenhagen). And he did say it was ubiquitous, so it should be something found all over the world. Hmmmmm.

not only found in “Nay Chaw”, but it also has to last……. and contain….. so acorns wouldn’t work, maybe a geode?
Potrzebie about 14 years ago
Ok, he substitutes E’s with A’s, so it should sound like NEH CHEW? Still doesn’t make sense.
Olfarto about 14 years ago
What if it was something as small as a thimble? Or a shot glass? The ekert would have to go on a radical weight loss diet…

Sacred VESSEL, like maybe a BOAT… although it seems to be a sacred vessel of nature… Hmmmm… Still, could be the good Captains VESSEL… I can’t second guess Wiley but I do like how he makes my brain do flips. Can’t wait to see what the S.V.O.N. REALLY is.

You are all missing it, don’t you know where you go, “When Nay-Chaw calls?”
TheDOCTOR about 14 years ago
Boy , SOMEONE must not want me to tell what I think, because It won’t let me load my comments. Just because I think the Vessel of Nature is an Oooommmph! (Slugged, tied-up and mouth duct-taped to prevent SPOILERS!)
grinstoya about 14 years ago
Well the only sacred vessel in my life is made of porcelain… I visit it regularly… mmm more fiber.

Hey Doc - are you OK? Doc? Doc? I hear a noise at the door. Let me go answer …..

Doesn’t anyone remember where this story line began?
Also, is a yes-way something like a segue?
Destiny23 about 14 years ago
Flo seems to recognize the picture – did she ever see the shed?

I thought for sure someone here would have guessed by now.
Frankr about 14 years ago
Wiley: I knew the guesses were wrong. I’ll just wait (im) patiently for tomorrow.

Yea, I’ll wait too. Now I have no clue what it is!!!

my guesses are and out house or white house. this is the second time to pot this guess in wonder why it didn’t take the first time?
harrietbe about 14 years ago
In this age of rapid flow of information and images, there are those who are impatient with the pace of an old fashioned newspaper cartoon. Can’t please everyone, I guess. I think this story line has been provocative and fun. Thanks, Wiley!
lin4869 about 14 years ago
Ditto, harrietbe.

I believe it was said that “thousands were made every year” to hide the occupied one in the overwhelming number of unoccupied ones. That implies manufacturing to me, so the tank/float/lid of a bathroom fixture could work…but I don’t think so.
Bleach bottle?
Trebor39 about 14 years ago
The Ekert was in a shed previously. What’s it gonna be this time?

I vote shed it was in before or gold mine in Chile.

Maybe it is the space between my ears. That would hold a lot right now.
comicsgeniusguy about 14 years ago
The shed, ITS SO OBVIOUS
thirdguy about 14 years ago
Whatever it is, it was a fun imaginative story line, and I think we had a lot of fun trying to guess the next twist in the plot. Thanks Wiley!!
vldazzle about 14 years ago
Too funny! I still think we’re back to the little shack with the board against the door (it probably worked for decades before the girls found it).

possibly, a chamber pot?

It’s not nice to fool Mothah Nay-Chaw. Hidden in Dena Dietrich’s butter dish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLrTPrp-fW8

I notice that Captain Eddie is making a circular motion with his pencil. I wonder if that’s significant. Maybe it’s another planet. That might explain the “Whoa! Wait a minute”, as in how do we do that. Maybe this is where Lars steps in to help.

I wonder if the vessel of Nay-chaw has ever been portrayed in those “Before Eve” strips. An empty pizza box, maybe?
