It’s been established that Max already knew that. In fact, it’s how he identified Phoebe in a Halloween costume.

Does… does Max know Phoebe is a girl?

How could Max not have noticed Phoebe having freckles? I guess he’s been too busy looking at his mobile device.

I think maybe it’s less that he hadn’t already noticed that, and more that he’s struggling to find a topic for conversation.

To be fair, they’d be more visible in the summer anyway. And it’s clear from his own skin that Max hasn’t been outside much.

I’ve got them, though mine are much smaller and don’t cover me like some do. But I stay out of the sun to keep them from activating.

In my day, I used books to not look at the people around me! (Yeah, it turn out autistic people don’t suddenly get more social without technology.)

Uh huh. I’m not distracted at all by the fact that Phoebe’s parents have turned into green zombies.
