Hobbes enjoys Fall because he knows he doesn’t have to go to school.

Calvin is going to get applesauce for his school lunch on the first day.

Hobbes is a graduate of Clemson.

In the end it’s fun for both with fine applesauce!!

When you get older, the idea of taking a nice hot bath and going to bed early (in my case, with a good book) is always the crowning glory of a day off.

A few years ago we redid the bathroom and replaced the tub with a shower stall. While it has practical reasons, I still feel it was a mistake. Intellectually, I know it was a good decision, but I miss the tub!!

Baths waste too much water and it gets dirty real fast. Showers take less water and stays clean.

Applesauce always makes it better!

Who said Misery likes company? Misery does not like happy company.

That Calvin – always looking for the bright side

I am with Calvin on this one. The thought of school or work early next day really puts a damper on the enjoyment of autumn.

If I could, I would cut summer out of the year; I hate anything over 68° F! Autumn is such a relief!!!

On the other hand, alas, She hates anything under 75° & would cut out winter if she could; yes, the thermostat is a constant battleground.

You can see this cartoon was written a long time ago. In our parts, yes, leaves used to turn in September. But, with the warming of the climate, over the last 30 years it’s shifted now to almost a full month later.

First the apples then the sauce! Pow!

Kapow indeed… here comes a mushy apple, right in the back of the forehead.

Autumn is indeed a beautiful season.

Wait until Calvin starts work! That’s when the real “Pre-Monday” blues start! Well, not for me. I don’t mind Mondays.

This could also apply to the last day of summer vacation before school starts, even if that last day isn’t on a Sunday (it’s usually on a Tuesday in my area, but though school begins on a Wednesday that first day typically feels like a Monday to us…)At an older age now that I go to college, I appreciate autumn more. It especially looks nice with all the colorful trees around the campus.

I’d like Autumn better if it weren’t for those horrible wind storms. Give me Spring any day.

I do not like it in the fall,

The reasons why would just appall!

But this I know and will recall:

I do not like it in the fall.

Actually, I love autumn!

Golly! Here in “sunny” So. Cal., we are expecting a 3- to 4-day heat wave — upper 90s F (near 40 C)!

Calvin, – just ‘leave’ it alone

Our trees locally with leaves few are dropping we have no fall color as yet. We do have cold weather coming by Friday.

Those must be crab apples.

I was out driving yesterday – central PA and the peak of the autumnal change – and all I could think was “kapow, fwoosh, zingg!”.

Applesauce, on the other hand, is a waste of good apples – make hard cider instead!
