@jackhs That’s one of the (actually many) things BHO & DJT have (had?) in common. I think BHO became less impressed with himself as the years of his Presidency went by. I guess we can hope the same might happen to DJT.
But don’t worry, folks: the way things are going, the next President will make you wish Trump was still in the White House. I know: you think that’s impossible. But check back in 4 (or 8) years, and you’ll see you had a failure of imagination.
The Rump has been brainwashed by the far right media. Add the fact that he also shows signs of dementia and aggressive narcissism. Those around him that allow him to keep his power are now at least culpable, and at most responsible for his actions. Anyone who STILL support him are, by transitive property, racists.
I decided to do something about this nightmare that is Trump. I recently met with two staff members of my district’s representative in the U. S. House of Representatives. I argued that Trump is unfit to serve. I discussed impeachment, the Twenty-Fifth Amendment and “controlling” Trump by joint action of both parties. I received a lengthy response from my representative in which he stated: I share your concerns regarding many aspects of the President’s conduct, conflicts of interest, and policies.Join me in “shouting from the rooftops” that Trump is unfit to serve. Contact your federal representatives.
It’s about time trump’s mental illness is discussed openly in the media more frequently. For all you folks who think his behavior falls within a couple of standard deviations from the mean—try going back to statistics 101, and recheck your data. Crazier than a hoot owl is my conclusion. Has been probably forever. But I only paid attention when he announced his candidacy, because his television shows were so god awful.
The comparisons with President Obama are ill informed at best, and willfully ignorant at worst. If the craziness of trump’s behavior has to be explained to you, you need to worry about your complete lack of discernment in other areas of your life, because you are surely not paying attention in this case.
What matters most, perhaps, is that he’s more toxic than a cobra, and he suffers from affluenza. Nobody ever said “no” to him when it might have helped form some actual character.
I have noticed a trend among trump defenders as always using deflection in terms of talking about some other president as a means of defending trump. They can’t possibly defend him by talking about the issue at hand, so they try to talk about someone or something else. But Hillary… But Obama… But Clinton… Benghazi! Squirrel!
Trump’s wall will not be big enough to hide the enormous HELP WANTED sign that we have in the US. Also, it will NOT be paid for by Mexico, if built, it will be paid for American taxpayers.
Sociopaths and psychopaths are all malignant narcissists, and there’s very little if any diff between a sociopath and psychopath. No psychologist would disagree that he’s a malignant narcissist; whether sociopath or psychopath is irrelevent — either way he is unfit and needs to go like yesterday.
He’s none of these things. He is pandering to his base to ensure he beats out Pense in the 2020 primaries. Yes he has an excess of personality but that’s what drives his ratings. We as a nation elected a TV personality and that’s what we got. If you don’t approve of his reality TV style of government than it’s time to actually show it by voting in the 2018 mid-terms.
@HI ROLLER is a perfect example of why a psycho-sociopathic megalomaniac managed to get himself elected. His followers truly believe the tripe and truthiness uttered by this pathological liar and his handlers.
Because of them, Emperor tRUMP is in a win, win, win situation.
Should he be impeached for his involvement with Russia and obstruction of justice ( doubtful ), his followers will scream ( as he will ) political witchhunt ! Neither they nor he will be silenced about how unfairly poor Donald was treated by the Fake News Press and the Washington elites.
Should he be forced to resign for being mentally and emotionally unfit to govern, both he and his acolytes will scream that there is a secret cabal at work to destroy him and his family.
Should he remain in office for the remainder of his term, no matter how much damage, destruction, and embarrassment he causes, his adoring fans will applaud him.
If you think this is a failure as political cartoon, you must be a failure as a commenter. You might not agree with this cartoon, but it is certainly a success in the eyes of many who have followed Garry Trudeau for decades. Please don’t forget, you are not obligated to read or comment on Doonesbury, most especially if you don’t appreciate the strip.
Just to be clear, the American Psychoanalytic Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychiatric Association are different organizations. The middle is the one with the “manual of style” for writing, the later publishes the DSM and is the one with the Goldwater Rule.
“The Goldwater Rule” is a policy that says no one who has not examined another may may make a diagnosis. The American Psychiatric Association has not made an exception that would allow its members to diagnose Trump from media reports.
Trump acts like a toddler, but he is not restricted to the intelligence of a toddler. He has an adult’s intelligence with the emotional maturity of a toddler. As a result, his staff is forced to brief him on critical, complex issues in twitter-length soundbites with pictures to keep his attention because he has the attention span of a toddler. His staff has to show him flattering news stories about himself to keep him pacified and avoid a temper tantrum. His staff, if they only could, would take away his twitter privileges. All the stories that leak out of the white house are about coddling Trump because he can’t handle criticism and doesn’t have the patience to learn anything. But we’re talking about an adult – not a child. There is something fundamentally wrong if an adult can’t handle any criticism without throwing a temper tantrum and can’t pay attention or read something longer than two sentences and needs to see pictures with the words to keep his attention.
Trump didn’t do that recent campaign event (just 7 months into his 4 year term) to get a leg up on the competition for the 2020 primaries. He did it because he was desperate for a crowd roaring with approval for him, and he knew a campaign event would give it to him. During the campaign he was on top of the world, but the reality of the job and the heightened scrutiny and criticism has left a bad taste in his mouth. He’s accustomed to working in a circle of sycophants, and he can’t wrap his mind around the fact that the President has to deal with people who don’t think he’s the best ever at everything. Trudeau didn’t mention narcissistic personality disorder, but if you look it up you’ll find it sounds just like Trump. That recent campaign event fits what someone with NPD would do in the face of the criticism Trump has faced. Criticized for equating neo nazis with protesters against racism and antisemitism? Throw a party where only your biggest fans can come and cheer you on.
In the first place, Maria Montessori wrote all my lesson plans long ago, as that is how it works in Montessori. Wow. This last bit is interesting. Attack a criticism by attacking the poster. Don’t explain a point of view like someone who has a clue. Truest form of dirty politics in action. The USA is on the verge of collapse because the middle ground is fast disappearing as the extremes are beginning to creep towards the center. The scary part is; what will happen when they meet?
