The look on Elvis’s face has me giggling. You can almost read the thoughts – “well it serves you right”, “no one listened to me”… At least Lupin and Puck seemed concerned for the people’s suffering
There must have been a floating blind spot in my eyes when I looked at Elvis’s speech balloon in the third pane. I had to read it four times to get it right. I was pretty sure I was missing something because I kept seeing it as, “The people ate children abandoned in a candy store.”
For the trick-or-treaters I always prepare forty little treat bags, and for the last four years I’ve handed out exactly 36 of them. That means my leftovers this year were 8 tubes of Sixlets, 8 Tootsie Roll minis, 4 Tootsie Pops, 4 Snickers fun-size, 4 Dove chocolate covered peanut butter, 4 Mr. Goodbar minis, and 4 Archie’s Mad House Halloween Comics. I saw the last trick-or-treater by 9 PM and then watched Turner Classic Movies double bill of “The Haunting” and “House on Haunted Hill.” By the time Vincent Price had pushed his last victim into the acid vat, I only had the four comic books left. Hey, fear drains my energy levels.
In officialdomese, “Mistakes were made” (which is blindingly obvious) is usually followed by “Lessons have been learned”. But subsequent events show they haven’t.
Ah, popcorn balls! Those were the favourites when I was a kid. Then people got paranoid about candy being tampered with and the home-made treats vanished.
A blessed All Saints Day to the BCN world, with a special request to St. Francis, who is the patron saint of animals! I pray all for all of your babies health, happiness and contentment!
. . . we only had 2 children stop by our house, last night, so we have lots of leftover candy. We were outside and enjoying Halloween with our neighbors, chatting about past Halloweens with our children, when they were much younger. We enjoyed hot apple cider, while cooking hot dogs over our portable fire pit, that Jim set-up on our driveway. Meanwhile, our small mob of cats, were kept inside, safe, sound, and undisturbed. They had a few kitty treats, though no tricks, unless you count “Squawker’s” brief escape! They are kept indoors and have never met a dog. <3 :)
Next year I’m handing out little cups of lima beans.
Just kidding! Actually, the kids don’t come around in this neighborhood any more. Otherwise I’d pick up a few packages of green tea-flavored Kit-Kats (in addition to the ones I save for myself).
On a different topic: OMC, was I the LAST PERSON TO GET THE MEMO?!? I just only now saw that the Tommy pins are available for sale!!! At least I managed to get my order in!

Now THAT’S what I call a good reason to feel ill the morning after! Forget alcohol. Candy is all of the calories with a much better flavor!

Obviously (to Elvis), this could have been avoided had he been let out of the closed door.

To break the monotony about too much chocolate, the news here had a warning not to overdo licorice. It’s really bad if you have high blood pressure.

LOL! Love! What a candy hangover! It’s hard to pick a favourite line here, but I think mine is, “My heart is a popcorn ball.” :D

47 Reeses Pieces plus what looks like Pumpkin Spice Latte in the mug? No wonder the Woman is face down with Elvis “tsk’ing” at her.
Of course if it was a platter of ham or an open kibble bag that would be different. The boys could control themselves – not!

At least Lupin and Puck don’t seem to have suffered any ill effects from pepperoni. And Elvis may have the last laugh on all of them.

Elvis looks like a disapproving dad in the last panel, “Let that be a lesson to you, young lady.”

Oh how I love that look of disapproval from Elvis!
