The actual reason they put those prose stories in old comic books was that it made the post office give them the magazine rate for mailing, which was cheaper. They didn’t think anybody read them. Stan Lee’s first writing assignment was one of those (in Captain America #3), and that’s why Joe Simon gave it to him: because it was just filler.
I had thought Vitamin’s soliloquy would be the first few panels of the Sunday start of the Minit Mystery and that today we’d get a last look at the Nitrate case. But this leaves more room to get the MM off to a full start tomorrow.
In any case, it’s always good to see the Old Trouper at center stage!
Great idea. Give Joe Staton a chance for other quick projects and to audition talent for when he eventually retires from the strip. Which I hope is a long ways off
