Not quite a year ago the roll call of first responders noted the death of firefighter Patrick Wolterman. Last week the two men charge with the death and arson were found guilty and sentenced to life (min. fifteen yrs.) for murder and arson.
Just one last thought about the wind-up to the “Minit Mystery” – What a crock! Never expected Tracy to cheat like that. Held back clues that would have made it possible for some to figure out the killer. As it was if anyone got it right it was just a guess, not real observation and deduction.
Ugly Christine could still be alive, since all that was found after her nosedive into a chimney was the pair of handcuffs she was wearing, which she could have broke free from. Christine wasn’t physically ugly, since she was a model. Maybe the same could be said of Crystal. Also, since Christine had a pet cat that smoked makes you wonder what type of pet Crystal has.
For all that the Staton-Curtis team has toned down the stylized weirdness that was a hallmark of Gould’s later years (and which Locher tried to emulate), their version of Bribery is far more chilling than anything Gould drew. I think it’s the penetrating stare that dents the fourth wall even when it’s not trying to.
Didn’t get a chance to get online yesterday, but reading yesterday’s strip & many of the comments, I agree with those who said the “Minit Mystery” was a great concept that failed to stick the landing. I have no idea how Piston arriving first automatically makes him the killer, one would think the last person to arrive would have done it (what, everyone arrived anxious to talk to Krispies but nobody bothered to actually find him & talk to him ? That makes no sense), or how a solution could hang on who’s coat is hanging over whom’s (what if Krispies had simply left his coat on a different hanger, as virtually any one of 6 billion people would have done?) But congrats to the readers who did solve it.
Hail! Hail; the gang’s all here! —At least the relevant elements are here. Ugly Crystal will apparently play some part in the upcoming arc, and we already know what Sawtooth was brought in to do.

“Sawtooth” could just as easily have been named “Underbite.”

Say what you will about the previous story, but Sunday’s strip generated more comments than the corresponding installment of “Luann.” ;)

If they were going to break the fourth wall, did they have to do it with that face? (shudder)

Gin punch so pink, it makes one think about a favorite villain. Bribery’s here. That makes me cheer. There’s bound to be some killin’.

Is Bribery talking to Doubleup, Mumbles and the rest who are probably out of jail already.
If T-Bolt is out of jail, the others are likely out of jail also or there will be questions why T-Bolt got out quickly.
I do not think he was talking to me because I already met the two sometime back. Besides I wasn’t in that room 8D

Ugly Christine, eh? I guess a good set of bangs hides a multitude of sins.

“Sawtooth” reminds me of “Jaws” from the James Bond movie.

We need to have them do a “head” job on a regular Tracy character to bring back some Gouldian Grim-ness…..
