This cartoon has meant the world to me. I was faced with a $3000 vet bill with my Boston Terrier, Ruffles. She had lost one eye in a dust-up as a pup. Now, at 10 years, she formed a cataract on her good eye and was totally blind. We are retired and on a limited income. We worked things out with some sacrifice. She is over her surgery and the “old” Ruffles is back with us, full of fun and mischief. It would have been worth it a twice the price. It is the only kind of love mony can buy.
DRSRISINGER has hit the nail on the head! It is so wonderful that such medical miracles are available to our beloved animals now. I have two rat terriers obtained from a rescue site . One has chronic liver problems and the other had eye surgery as a pup. They are my “babies” now that my family is grown and gone. I had to sit down and shed some tears today with my “Dude” in my arms –the cartoon really touched me that much.
There are photos of my pets and me on my flickr – “stoppuller.” Go look.

DRSRISINGER and Walter, your stories are what warms the soul. We pour our hearts out for those that give us unconditionally. A related good one is one of the latest Non Sequitur strips titled: Blind Date. I nearly cried. If you haven’t, do check it out.

I wonder how big the stash is hidden under Mr. Grumbine’s mattress. No matter how big it isn’t as big as his heart.

It proves that there is good buried deep in every person – regardless of how embarrased they would be if everyone knew!
