MERRY CHRISTMAS to all you good folks who enjoy Luann and exchanging thoughts about her and her friends. Thank you everyone for your contribution to this medium for making it such a lively, entertaining and informative experience. I love your wit and wisdom even when I strongly disagree with your position. Let’s have a great time in 2018.
You can open Windows Character Map or equivalent. Select Arial Unicode MS font. Loads of special characters that can be pasted into a comment. They’re characters, not embedded graphics, so they’re allowed. You can copy and paste your favorite ones into a Word file, so they can be retrieved quicker when you want them.
You may also be able to find an extension for your particular browser that makes this process easier and quicker. I use “Character Palette”, but it won’t work with the most current version of Firefox. I’m using an older Firefox version.
I think that if after you type a comment, you click outside of the box to deselect it before clicking the COMMENT button, it may eliminate the double posting that’s been going on. Seems to be working that way for me, at the moment.
I’m embarrassed to admit that my first thought upon seeing the pendant Toni is wearing in the first panel was “did she put the car air freshener around her neck?” And on that note, Merry Christmas (and belated Happy Solstice to those of us who celebrate it)!

Merry Christmas to all of you, and God bless you in this coming New Year!! This strip today made me smile….because we did the same thing after our children left home. But I would love to relive those Christmases of long ago…sigh. The grand babies are coming now, so when they are here in the next couple years and are old enough to be excited, it will all start over, and we can’t wait!!
If I hadn’t retired, I would probably be at work right now getting airliners ready for the after Christmas travel rush. Miserable way to spend a holiday, but lots of overtime pay.

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year everyone! Also this is accurate, our kids are grown and gone, we woke up at 10 am this morning, and the tree has not gotten up yet. But we still feel it and send that to everyone here, including our dear trolls.
A Wonderful, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All !!!! May your merriment, festivities, and presents be all bright [and ‘code-compliant’] ! :) -CtE
Like the DeGroots we got to sleep in this morning. Surprisingly, that was with our five year old granddaughter in the room! She is/was: Firstly. the only child present. Secondly, exhausted from a weekend of celebrating with her father and brothers. Once she got up (after 9:00 A.M.) she was very anxious to open the gifts!
For Argy: A few days ago, Argy inquired if I had a good meat loaf recipe – I did find the one my Mom used to make decades ago. Not being an avid meat loaf lover, I still thought it was pretty good. So, for you Argy, here goes. This recipe makes two loaves, so you can cut the ingredients in half if you just want to make one. Baking time will remain the same.
3/4 cup milk – the real stuff, this is an old recipe
.
2 eggs cracked into a small bowl so you can pick out any little pieces of shell, depending on how adept you are in cracking eggs
.
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
.
1 teaspoon salt
.
1/8 teaspoon pepper
.
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
.
1 pinch dried crushed thyme
.
Glaze: 1/4 cup chili sauce or 1/4 cup catsup and 2 tablespoons corn syrup
.
Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Soak bread crumbs in the milk. Add eggs. Beat with mixer. Add all other ingredients except for the glaze ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Form two loaves in a 13" X 9" X 2" glass baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Then remove the loaves from the oven, spread the glaze over the loaves, then bake for another 15 minutes. You can put parsley sprigs over the top as a garnish, if you wish.
.
.
There you go, Argy – hope you find it to be good. Take care, -Brd

I guess college age Luann doesn’t get up early on Christmas. I have the feeling my college age kids will not have that problem tomorrow.

Sometimes just surviving makes Christmas special, maybe next year we’ll be healthy enough to generate some enthusiasm for it.
