For some reason Michael is tying his shoe and zipping up his jacket with his eyes closed. Sadly I think he is doing this only so that he will be startled when Martha sneaks up behind him because as everyone knows, when you close your eyes, not only does it keep you from seeing anything but it also keeps you from hearing anything.
Now, if this is the follow-up to yesterday’s scene in PE, then Michael would be putting his street clothes back on. Wouldn’t this locker be in the boy’s locker room for the gym? No wonder Michael is startled when he sees Martha there.
“…when I understand it, I’ll fight it.” Oh Michael, that is pretty much the same thing as saying, “I’ll never fight it.”
Michael, I believe the Muppets said it best about women..’Can’t live with ‘em. Can’t live without ‘em. There’s something irrestistablish about ’em. They made a monkey out of ’ol King Kong. I hope that something better comes along." ;-D
All this is alien to me – I was 21 when I tore down the Wall – but it seems to me the acceptance of unacceptable mistreatment (especially of women by men, but there is a lot going the other way, too) is a blight on the lives of too many people.
When the “Mike and Martha” series was running for the first time, my son was being asked at school who the heck Martha was. He told everyone there was no Martha and that his mother had just made her up. Nobody believed him—even though they were with him every day and could see that Martha didn’t exist. Strange how closely my kids were compared to the kids in the strip—even though I had changed their ages, their names and their circumstances.
I see the lack of respect of people for anyone — including themselves — as one of the major causes of this flood of domestic violence and murderous rampages that fill the daily news. All relationships are affected.
Women and girls at a very young age communicate with each other with very subtle body language, facial expressions and non verbal voice sounds and it’s instinctive. Most men are completely oblivious to most of it. Women interpret that as being insensitive or being ignored so the battle begins!

Michael, the older you get, the more you realize that it’s futile to fight the feminine forces. You’ll never figure them out !
Just relax, enjoy, and revel in the never-ending confusion of love.
