Poor Pucky and his tail. Even I know to be careful with tails. You have to handle them with care and only after permission is granted. Then watch for irritated tail twitching to signal that your session is over.
My daughter turned 16 months old today and this comic is the most accurate thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Just wait til The Baby starts walking, boys. Your tails will never be safe again.
My then 5 1/2 month old niece started her journey into mobility at her first Christmas. We do not have the initial army crawl that first started propelling her forward on film, because I’d JUST put the camera away after recording a nice segment of Niece just Being Cute. We do, however, have her father’s reaction on film. I broke out the camera as Niece caught her breath after her short trip and waited for her to do it again (which she didn’t, of course, babies and cats, I swear…) as Brother entered the room to find out why his sister and parents were squeeing more than usual over the baby.
Me, camera rolling: Brother, you have a mobile baby!
Brother: …Wonderful. In the most deadpan voice you can imagine
Me: …And I’m recording this.
Now, granted, Niece has been a rather energetic kid from the time she was able to start kicking her mommy, so some level of “Oh, swell,” was merited. But it’s oh-so-amusing for the father who’s been happily sharing his daughter’s firsts to have such a reaction to the beginnings of crawling!
The shock! The horror! The … aaargh, it touched me! Poor Elvis being grasped by the tail is so humiliating. I have to admit the facial expressions of cats who’ve been touched or petted when they weren’t expecting it is priceless along with the reaction to being laughed at for said expressions :)
But wasn’t he already mobile a few weeks ago when he started tossing toy pigs into the toilet? Perhaps not as fast, but stilll he must have been getting around on his own a bit as the young farmer, yes?
Special kind thoughts & prayers for Burke129529’s boyfriend’s dad, Font Lady & Marc, Brien43, OliveO’Sudden, and everyone needing healing orb bumps!
Lady Bri & hubby, hope you’re pacing yourselves & enjoying the settling-in process! It can be fun, but sometimes daunting. Give yourselves time to smell the roses (or anything available this time of year)!
Susanna, I MUST say again that yesterday’s challenge was a SUPER IDEA! So much fun & happy memories of BCN’s broadcast history! I’m going to dive right back into reading them all again! Feel free to come up with more good ideas! That goes for all of you orbsters. Love those kind of questions!
Bless you all! >^.,.^< Georgia, you’re a fully-faceted, top grade diamond! Thank you for this forum!!! >^.,.^<
My cats 2 ages 7yrs and 2 ages 14yrs have never seen a human child, in purrson, so they have never had to experience this before. None of them are skittish about their tails being touched. In fact they enjoy it very much. Only the 7 year old sisters will hide if someone other than me enters the house. If it is someone they are familiar with though, the girls will smoother that person with kitty affection and cat hair to let them know how much they like them. The 14 year old cats won’t move from where ever they are but meow for attention until whoever entered finds them and pets them.

We spent the whole of my pregnancy messing with our cats’ paws and tails so they would be used to it by the time the baby came. Worked with three of the four! Now they are all the best of friends. My son’s first word was “cat.” His doctor assures me he doesn’t love them more than me, it’s just that “mama” is a really hard word to say =D
Dear Mega Orb! Sis just called me to tell me she will have to let Allie go. The mass has stopped responding to antibiotics & is causing little Allie to limp. She’s crying for her mama a lot & needing cuddles. Sis thinks Allie is telling her to let her go to our parents. Mom & Dad must take over now. She will take Allie to the vet at 4 p.m. EST Tuesday. Please keep both in thoughts and prayers. Allie deserves a gentle crossing.Thank you, all who have been lifting them up. Blessings to all! >^.,.^<

Of course Puck uses feline imagery to describe the baby’s speed.

I love, “Hide your tail!”
My Denver is a manx, it’s always funny to see babies (human and kitty both) try to figure out where he’s “hiding” his tail.Sionyx almost 7 years ago

Did…did the Baby just turn into the shark from Jaws in that last panel? The horror! Hide your tails, kitties!

That’s right, Elvis. Just go limp and low, protecting your soft under-belly.

Hey, the baby has solid blue eyes, just like a kitten! Maybe he and the reporters can find common ground there.
