Who’s coming? It it the Woman’s sister? Tommy’s Woman? The ceiling Woman? The bookstore Woman? The superstitious Woman? An unknown Woman? A MAN, perhaps? The suspense is killing me.
The cats I grew up with were never allowed on the counter and would constantly get hassled off. However, Miss Tinkerbelle, my parents’ tabby cat, is soooo spoiled they allow her free reign on counters, tables, and she’s even been found in the fruit bowl, but she didn’t even get penalised for it.
Elvis pays about as much attention to “get down!” as mine do. But for some reason, I keep trying to use that phrase, hoping that this time it might work. Hmmmm, not sure what that says about me or the cats.
Hi Orbsters,Again I am off topic but I have great news about Foster. His weight is good and he has settled in nicely with me. He is on meds for his wounds and once healed he will make a wonderful family member. Adopt a shelter animal and enrich your life. Thank you for your support dear Orbsters! Georgia knows, Lupin and Puck were shelter pets and are now mega superstars, not just in her eyes but in ours as well. Have a beautiful day! xo
Dinner parties with cats walking over the table. And the guests. And everything else. Not just the counter. I mean that would NEVER happen, now would it?
I would like to thank everyone for their prayers, good wishes, kind thoughts, and orb bumps of all sizes over the last month. Yesterday afternoon after a series of heart attacks, my husband Marc passed away. I was holding his hand when he passed. We were married for 37 years. I can’t write anymore. Thank you one and all.
All of the BCN strips are funny, but some are true Laugh-Out-Louds, and this is one of them. OMC, Elvis is simply expressing what MY cats think every time I tell them to get off the counter. BCN is unique among all currently running comics: it is true to life in depicting the cats, the art is breathtaking, and it’s genuinely heartwarming and funny. Again I predict: Georgia will become widely known as she deserves to be, as one of the Greats— right up there with Charles Schultz, Bill Waterson, and a very few others.
. . . if, any BCN fans have the time and the talent, then you might be interested in creating your own BCN quilt! Please, share some pictures, when you finish! :) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1382832135160123&set=p.1382832135160123&type=3&theater
Good morning, and orb bumps, boops and hugs to all (especially Font Lady, who needs all our support right now). Yum Yum sits on the table when it is in its normal corner, next to the door. Once the table is pulled out for company, she knows she is not allowed on it. She hardly ever goes on the counter, and as soon as I see her and say her name, she is off.
<<As you can see, Py the Imperial ruled the house from the counter. Get done got me a talk to the tail response. Unless his grandmother (my momma) was coming to visit. She was the only visitor to the house that he would stay off the counter for. He’s the only one of the cats that has ever owned me that enjoyed counter time. Scooby would rather stalk me from the top of bookcases and drop down on me when I least expect it. TD is just a tad too portly and lame from a kittenhood on the streets to make it that high.
While she can’t get up on the counters, our mini Schnauzer, Greta Petunia can stretch just far enough that the tips of her paws come up to counter height. I love when she “helps” our man in the kitchen. Once she gets underfoot a little too often I hear my favorite exchange, “Greta, get down…. get down…get funky!”
Miscreant my 6lb 14 yo, yes he has always been 6lbs, has been curling up in a tight ball and has had cold toes lately so yesterday I broke out the cat magnet AKA heating pad. I put a thin memory foam pillow underneath it for extra “attractiveness”. As soon as I turned it on there were 4 cats stuck to it of course. The problem now is that I have to pry the Weimaraner off of it. He found out how warm and soft it is and decided he likes it too. I’m trying to decide between buying one or two more heating pads. I was thinking just one extra large and they will just have to share. If I cover the dog with a blanket he doubles as a cat magnet though. Hmmm.
My cat got on the counter just a few times so far in her life. She used it as a in-between for a jump to the windowsill. She’s almost 12, so a few times is not bad.
Yesterday, I spotted all four of my cats curled up together on my bed, so I went to get my camera. Of course, this aroused Sooti’s curiosity, so she got up and moved to the front to see what I had.

I thought that was it, but then she went back to her place in the line and I was able to get all four after all.

I don’t know if it is as apparent to everyone else as it is to me or if I am just hyper sensitive about it, but poor Pingpong has an irritation on the back of her neck. I had thought her ringworm had come back (she had ringworm when I first got her), but the vet said that she didn’t think it was ringworm because it didn’t shine under a black light, neither I nor any of the other cats had got it from her, and it was just all in that one spot on her neck. Now I am wondering if she ever had ringworm the first time either (I don’t know if it was looked at under a black light, but the rest of the reasons the vet didn’t think it was ringworm applied then too). Anyway, the vet gave me a spray to use on her neck. It is working, but it makes her fur all sticky and nasty looking in that spot.
Back when we lived in CA, the cats were fed on the counter in the kitchen bay window. It was perfect. It kept the food off the floor and the cats out of the way of feet. The bird feeders right outside the side windows didn’t hurt either.

Elvis, the king of sarcasm :) I love the “get down!” by Georgia’s signature

My two only go on the countertops to gain access to the window or in pursuit of a bug. It is one plus of them having no interest in people food.

He can be on the counter – just not while she is cleaning.

I wonder if the Woman is hiding the dirty dishes in the oven and shoving everything else in the spare bedroom. Ahem, not that I’ve ever done that. ;)

Mine can go anywhere in the house they want except the counter or island. Those paws walk in litter. Ugh.
