By the by, here in my home state, there have been two officer fatalities within the last three weeks. The only reason we don’t say it was two fatalities this year is because Officer Parish was killed just before midnight, New Year’s Eve. Officer Gumm was killed last Thursday. Colorado Flags are at half mast for the foreseeable future.
So Sawtooth doesn’t have the work ethic of Abner Kadaver, who insisted on carrying out his contract even though Stiletta, his original client, was dead, and Bribery was on the run.
-10 windchill?? Where I am, the kids wait for the bus (bundled up very well, btw), and go to school in weather worse than this… must be a more temperate location where Dick Tracy and his cohorts live.
I’m struggling to make sense of this. Why exactly did they decide to move on Bribery now, after Lee being undercover for so long? They are arresting Glitch, but on what charge? Do they even know about his illicit computer program? We never got to see them gather evidence on anything.
back in the 50s, Chester Gould had a great story where a civilian went undercover (I know that part is a stretch) at the glamorous apt. of 3-D Magee and Pony. We went back and forth between the Magees, who were gloating over their “success”, and HQ, where Tracy and Sam were amassing evidence, using the Police Lab, etc. When the time came for the raid on their apt. we had seen the police build their case, methodically.
This strip is famous for (among other things) being among the first fiction to showcase Police Procedure – even before McBain’s 87th Precinct series. I keep hoping that we will get to see Dick Tracy, Chief of Detectives, actually detect something.
The raid on Mr. Bribery’s HQ—for that is what it has turned out to be—is proceeding smoothly, so far. True, we don’t know how Sawtooth and his flunky got to a nearby alternate hideout, or why Sawtooth left Bribery with the Lunarian/quasi-Lunarian duo, though we can guess. But the hard part is yet to come, corralling Bribery himself in his hyper-frenetic state and dealing with the danger that Crystal poses, both to Lee Ebony and to herself. Ugly! Crikey!

Flurries dance on frigid air
Through drawn blinds two thugs do stare
At the strong arm of the law
Sam guides Glitch into the maw
Of comeuppance now at hand
Shall he sing and take the stand?
Tracy seems to have nine lives
Others fall while he survives.
How he did so few can tell
Time to lam it for a spell.
Sawtooth came to town to kill
Posie Ermine’s blood did spill.
On the tracks there waits a train
Get on board if ye be sane.

I am surprised that T-Bolt is not aware that Sawtooth is not staying in the building. However, if she did, she did not report it to Tracy

Looks like Sawtooth’s escape plan will be a success… but he will have a bullet-to-bullet talk with Tracy before the train leaves.

Fritz Ann should pay Sam another visit this week. The Prof. Ygor Glitch and Matty Squared affair is a federal offense, right?

The question is the show down coming with Bribery who is a true fanatic in the case of the Moon Gold. He really has that “fever” and it will end him.

Be anticlimactic to haul Bribery in like a common street tough.

Not to post a spoiler or anything, but I’m waiting to see if Crystal shows up with her slingshot or is talked out of it somehow.

It seems to me that the writers might be headed for a quickie ending by letting Sawtooth escape. We’ll see.

I think Sawtooth wants to catch a bullet train.

Sawtooth is one of the better (Newer anyway) villains. Maybe he should stick around and wrap things up
jonahhex1 almost 7 years ago
Perhaps Sawtooth will get caught. There should be a warrant out for his arrest for – at the very least – attempted murder.
