So, I’m looking at a ‘Books’ site and a thriller pops up; the idea is that there is a Russian mole who is about to be appointed to a high government position…
Speaking of Tweets…from Trump, Feb. 17…“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”
Impressive prognostication. The Ryan tweet was posted on Nov 17th, and this comic likely drawn sometime around the new year.
Yet Friday, Ryan said exactly that same thing he always says: it is too soon, the wrong time, to talk about guns. Trudeau’s experience-based ability to predict the future remains scary.
How convenient for the POTUS, to have the FBI to blame and deflect attention, from an another U.S. mass murder, using an assault rifle.
Ryan & Co. continue to get the continued support of the NRA, and the gun lobby, in Congress’ never ending battle, to pretend that we don’t need tighter controls on firearm purchases.
How much of our children’s, and grandchildren’s ,innocent blood must be spilled in sacrifice to gods of guns ?
I’d love to see someone break his thumbs and then make him eat that stupid hat. But since this is Doonesbury, I suppose that would be too much in the realm of blissful fantasy.
I have several times seen writers remark that Americans too much treat their President like an elected god. (Or elected devil, in the opinion of most here towards the current President.) Have Fu Manchu or Lex Luthor ever run for president?
Contrast with Pres. James Garfield. He was shot in July 1881, died in Sept. During his incapacitation he performed only one official duty, signing an extradition paper. This was no big deal then; Presidents had a much smaller role in our (self-)government then than they do now.
Security of schools must be addressed. However, let’s not focus on that alone. Schools, churches, movie theaters, concert venues, all public places are at risk of mass shootings.
It has been suggested that the families of fallen teachers should be compensated. It took some time before this was finally done for fallen soldiers. Today, it is an expectation that you will be willing to take a bullet for your students. This is today’s world.
