Of course, we, the readers, know that Ghost is the crook, but Tracy doesn’t know that yet. I find it peculiar that he doesn’t show more interest in the first diner, or wherever Simon had his lunch. We don’t even know its name. After all, that’s where Tracy is supposed to believe that the poisoning happened.
The time line is a bit confusing, but the other day Ghost told Tracy his restaurant opens each day at 4 in the afternoon, so evidently Stagg ate the fatal meal somewhere else, maybe next door to where he does his banking and removed a million dollars in cash.
Not so much willingly as out of frustration, Mayor Armstrong has pretty much given Tracy carte blanche to do whatever he needs to do to solve the case of the inconveniently-dead billionaire, Simon Stagg. All resource will be focussing on the two restaurants, Pepper’s and the as-yet unnamed lunch place, where Pierre the Chef works.
Under these circumstances, our detective and his team should be able to dig up some dirt….
