I’m glad I was wrong about going another week. Weak won out over week.

Somebody got it exactly right about the folded hands.

And Fay is exactly wrong being the same shade skin color as mom.

I don’t understand why Greg would feel the need to second-guess his characterization of Fay – i.e. her skin tone and likely ethnic background – but that’s what appears to be happening.

Mom’s body language is suggesting a very short, one-sided conversation.

It’s official – Faye has been Europeanized or is that Caucasianized? Let’s get Faye back to Latina. We need more diversity in this strip.

And that’s the last we will see of Fay as her mother finds her another drama teacher.

Some of you say Faye is high school girl…would a high school girl allow her mother to escort her by hand? High school kids would rather die than be seen being treated that way. From my perspective, Faye is younger than high school kid based on her body, stature and behavior.

Props to Fay for effectively pleading her case. ✨

Nice detour to a sweet story, that has Luann in it doing her thing with younger people. She gets it from her parents, and Pittsville generally, which is a good place. Will it win over Ann Eiffel? Time will tell, but we are now to do Saturday, and either this detour will conclude, or will last another week. Bets either way?

Fay can not be in High School one she looks a person that 3 or 4th grade.

It is so strange to me and slightly amusing that people are seldom happy when they receive what they had been wishing for. Faye’s mother had wanted her daughter to be more assertive and bold. Now the woman seems to be down right annoyed at the thought that her shy mouse is becoming more forward. Faye is growing and part of that is growing up. Her world is expanding and including more people of both genders. Faye didn’t back down from her mother but she didn’t throw a tantrum. She asked for consideration and a way to address her mother’s concerns. She is handing this with maturity and grace. Her mother should be proud of her.

Mom said nothing to Luann. Better wish Fay well in her new endeavor.

Monday are we back to Tiffany vs Ann Eiffel?

First of all, Faye is in the 6th grade. Her mother’s ridiculous hyper control is due to her own harsh upbringing under restrictive religious parenting. She wasn’t allowed to date until she left her parents control for college and ended up marrying her first boyfriend. She’s unhappy yet lacks the emotional intelligence to connect the dots. She’ll regret this when, 4 years later, she catches Fay sneaking out at night to hookup with guys she’s met in the Internet. Still not willing to admit to her mistakes, she will blame Luann in a future story arc.

Don’t look so confident, Fay. Your mom just doesn’t want to tell you “No way” in front of Luann. Once you’re in the car she’s going to not only say No but possibly end the mentorship with Luann because she’ll know Luann coached you on this.

“We’ll talk at home.” Translation: “I am not grounding you in public. Especially not in front of her.”

Well, not a negative result so far at least.

The object of Fay’s argument yesterday was to open communication with her mother on the topic of participating in the play. Mrs. Garcia consented to talk more at home.

Call this a win for Fay & Luann and move on.

The smiles make it look as though it’s intended to be a hopeful sign, but “we’ll talk at home” strikes me as anything but.

Barf. Waste of a week, and I’m not getting any younger.

Time to move on to a new storyline.

Why do people like that have children? In fact, why does Anyone have children? Incredulous minds want to know.

I think people are slightly over-reading mom’s reaction. She is suspicious, but, understandably, doesn’t want this discussion in front of Luann.

I have to think this is not going to go well for Faye when she gets home. I just hope it doesn’t crush her in the end and that she and Lu will still have a relationship.

I think this arc will continue into next week. But I’d rather go back to the Tiff thread.

The mom knows that Luann is influencing Fay. She will wait until Luann is not around to put her daughter back in her place. Fay is only strong around Luann.

Well, with all this-here ‘theater drama’, I think I’ll go take in a film … I know!!! …

If Fay’s mother doesn’t back off of the constant micro-managing of Fay I see a unwanted teen pregnancy in Fay’s future. Hope I’m wrong.

tomorrow: the kids at Pitts Community College stage a sit-in.

Fay seems optimistic, though I’m not sure that’s justified. Maybe Mrs. Garcia has decided that it is finally time for her to have the too-long-delayed “mother and daughter talk” with Fay.

I hope we get some resolution, one way or another….

Tomorrow Knute and Crystal are spotted at Babies R Us, shopping before all the stores close for good. Crystal says to Knute, “Now that we’ve got the stuff, we’d better do the deed.”

Ya know it’s a slow arc when it has been three hours between new comments.
