Personally I’d go through Sir Figaro’s door but then I’m not the Cat of Adventure. Smiling Sir Figaro seems to have caught on to Lupin’s method of communication.
Lupin, maybe Sir Figaro is inviting you up to meet the other ceiling cats. After all, regardless of what Puck has heard, Elvis says there are at least 20 of them.
So THAT’S how the Ceiling Cats get to the laundry room! I’d been wondering if there was a laundry chute installed for each apartment, but that didn’t quite make sense. Given what we’ll learn about the history of the Big Pink House, it doesn’t surprise me that there’s a cat door here.
Originally I wanted so bad to show that the Gatos de Noticias team has a small cat door that leads to a hallway in their apartment (old servants’ staircases—these Victorians-turned-apartment-buildings are filled with them in New England and the real Big Pink House was no exception! Though the building was set up a little differently than the one in the comic, I’ve taken a few liberties). Finally, I got a chance to work it in!
ooooh, bonus footage :) And look how well these two get along even though they can’t understand each other though I’m surprised Lupin isn’t ready to explore another area of the house yet
So, Sir Figaro has never seen Lupin’s tiny door opening? Panel two seems to indicate his surprise. Maybe this is his first trip to the basement as well.
Lupin and Sir Figaro need no words! Love all this bonus footage. :-) Gosh, wouldn’t it be so interesting if Lupin had gone through Figaro’s tiny door?! haha! Figaro’s Woman would have gotten a huge shock!
When I was a child I was always charmed when we would go to an older house that had those tiny doors under the stairs and sometimes just for no apparent reason. They were always just like the big doors, with panels and sometimes even glass doorknobs. I just assumed they were for cats!
I am surprised at Lupin! I figure a laundry chute would be the toughest thing and the laundry room is a bonus. A cat door would be a snap for Lupin at this point. After all – this is huge adventure for Breaking Cat News! Meeting new cats in the building? Wow!
Too bad we can’t post pictures anymore or I could prove that it isn’t just a cat door. It’s also a big dog head door. Even the big dogs want to be in on the conversation so they will put their heads through the door to hear what is going on in the next room. It can be quite unnerving if you aren’t expecting a dog head to be sticking out of a door when you round a corner.
Hello dear orbsters! May I make a request for a person who is a fellow orbster? This nice person is going for a job interview tomorrow & really hopes for success! If so, maybe this kind orbster will be able to afford a laptop or device to get on BCN every day, instead of once a week at a library, friend, or relative’s place!
This orbster needs prayers, bumps & boops. Lost voice to cancer, so a lot rides on every employment opportunity! Please help this orbster! I KNOW the needs of others have been prayer concerns for this wonderful animal lover!
Georgia, it’s been delightful to read your special contributions! I love the Big Pink House & you have made it even more special today! So love you, dear Orb Leader!
Sir Figaro’s big smile makes it clear that he and Lupin are Brothers In Adventure! Lupin can’t hear; Sir Fig can’t speak English; but they understand each other perfectly!

The Cat of Adventure is going to turn down going through a weird tiny door? What strange alternate universe have we entered?

Fig:¿Quieres ser mi amigo?
Lupin:
Though I can’t hear what you say
I still can understand your words
It’s not absurd
We both make work seem play
We are both cats of adventure
And that’s the best thing we could be!
¿Quieres ser mi amigo?
The answer’s ¡si!

I have just been happy to see one of my favorite stories with updated artwork. It is absurd how happy this “extra footage” makes me!

I can show you a world
Waiting right through that cat door
Tell me, Lupin
Wouldn’t you
Like to go through there and see
A whole new world
A world we gatos
Love to view
Just go through that door
The upstairs floor
Is just a flight of stairs away
A whole new world
Where two cats report the news
For our Spanish friends
Adventure never ends
A whole new world awaits
Figs, just up through the chute
A world of news and napping
Is where I call my home along with my best friends
A whole new world
Watch out for Elvis’ poof
Someday we both will share
Adventures rare
In our two new worlds!
Special thanks to Burt for translating Fig’s lyrics to English.
