She was a novice castoreum harvester with a kind heart. She could not bear to kill the animals, but she learned the hard way that milking a live beaver is fraught with danger.

What people used to believe about the monthly cycles now referred to as having your period. In other words, the beaver bit back but is coming again next month for a re-match!

As we were escorted into the room in which the apparent crime had taken place, Misty seemed to attain a preternatural calm as she surveyed the details of the room. I knew from experience that she was cataloging and sorting all the tiny things that an ordinary observer would miss. The victim, whom had not yet been removed, had been exsanguinated, apparently by a Castor Canadensis, which had also succumbed to some lethal encounter and was lying near the window, its mouth yet bloody from a large and ragged wound on the victim’s thigh, said wound having compromised the femoral artery of the victim to result in the exsanguination.

Today’s bloody humor was brought to you by the color* black! Black, when you care enough to send the very drabbist!

*Yeah, yeah. Technically, not “a color.” So, bite me! [Uhh, let me re-phrase that….]
