Be thankful she was not born with six fingers. Gweedo has the answer even for that eventuality.

No kidding Gweedo. I don’t know anyone who puts gloves on a toddler! Besides mittens are cooler than gloves when they are joined by a long strand of wool through the sleeves!

Doesn’t end after toddlerhood, either. My 6-year old twins can show you the face Mummy makes putting ANY sort of hand covering on them.

Elly’s got the eyes down pat. :)) Mxx

Mitts until they can put their own on. Then they can decide. But mitts are a lot warmer than gloves, I still wear them if I don’t need the dexterity of gloves.

Definitely mittens, but gloves are better to throw snowballs with (although Lizzie is probably not throwing many snowballs). Although I know the science is behind mittens being warmer, but I always have the coldest fingers and when they touch each other, they never get warm as much as they do with gloves.

Maybe the mittens are for putting on over what look as if they may be insulating liners. This is Canada, after all.

I attempted gloves on my toddlers last year… mittens this year.

My personal favorites are the fingerless gloves that have a mitten attachment that you can pull over the fingers and button… it’s hard to find them though.

Mittens on a string. You know she’s gonna loose them.

Mittens, definitely. And Mirthiful, learn to knit. There are lots of patterns for the items you are desiring.

Three little kittens, They lost their mittens, And they began to cry, Oh, mother dear, We sadly fear Our mittens we have lost. What! Lost your mittens, You naughty kittens! Then you shall have no pie. Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. You shall have no pie.

The three little kittens, They found their mittens, And they began to cry, Oh, mother dear, See here, see here, Our mittens we have found. What! Found your mittens, You darling kittens! Then you shall have some pie. Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. You shall have some pie.

The three little kittens, Put on their mittens, And soon ate up the pie; Oh, mother dear, We greatly fear Our mittens we have soiled. What! Soiled your mittens, You naughty kittens! Then they began to sigh, Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. They began to sigh.

The three little kittens, They washed their mittens, And hung them out to dry; Oh mother dear, Look here, look here, Our mittens we have washed. What! Washed your mittens, You’re such good kittens. I smell a rat close by! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! I smell a rat close by.

Mittens for young ones, definitely! Some come in a water resistant fabric, which is great for playing in snow. My mom sewed a strip of elastic between the left & right mittens, which works much better than that string. Doesn’t hang down or get tangled up as easily, but will stretch out to aid in getting the mittens on, retracts to help keep them on.

Gloves or mittens, doesn’t matter much to me. I still have to take them off if I need to do anything.

As a senior in college, I met my grandmother at our favorite restaurant for lunch. When we were done, I had somehow lost a glove. When I got back to the dorm after vacation was over, there were mittens on a string waiting in my mailbox!

The Stanley Park [Vancouver] miniature railway puts on a special light show for Christmas every year and every year kids lose their mittens there. Found gloves and mittens get put on the picket fence around the station platform. In snowy years every picket has it’s own glove!

We always use mittens with my little girl too. It took the longest time before she could actually put the thumb in the thumb hole, so we probably should have just used socks like Teresa. Now that she’s four, she has the thumb hole all figured out.

I always used mittens for my kids and I think I pinned them to the sleeves. In my day we used pins for diapers too (cloth).

This is why its easier to find mittens that size than gloves that size.

The other good thing about mittens is either one fits either hand.
