By the way, I heard a guy once say. “Here, Eat some respect”. If that is true, I would like mine salted up, watered down, and peppered with interactive commentary so it is less digestible than in its original form.
“A bureaucrat is a Democrat who holds some office that a Republican wants.” – Harry S Truman
“Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home — but not for housing. They are strong for labor — but they are stronger for restricting labor’s rights. They favor minimum wage — the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all — but they won’t spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine — for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing — but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing — so long as it doesn’t spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.” – Harry S Truman
He was hated especially when he gutted the White House for renovation. It was rotting and falling apart, but people were pissed that he was desecrating it. Then he put on the North Portico and people screamed, even though they were in Jefferson’s original plan.
This strikes me, not as political, but simply as a non-partisan & accurate observation about the current political climate, expressed in a manner that is consistent with the general approach of this comic strip to any topic.
Stephan Pastis, be fair now! If you are going to use “libtard” in strips, you should give equal time for the opposite term "conron " (conservative moron).

Yes, Bush and the regressives are warmongers who left us with trillions of dollars of badly accounted debt that President Obama had to put on the balance sheet. Yes it was free market ideology that created a global financial crisis requiring President Obama to save the country from a depression. Yes Bush and the regressives are demonstrably racist and backwards. (birtherism crap, anyone?) Yes trump has destroyed public comity and with challenged the very sanity of the body politic. But that’s obvious and accurate. Your vitriol is not.
Perhaps you don’t like an America that strives for truth, justice and the American way?
Truman oh yeah he was a great guy killing thousands by dropping Atomic bombs and causing thousands more to die from radiation sickness such a great guy.
Lest we forget, it was Truman who failed to confront Stalin about failing to abide by the various agreements covering central Europe.
Lest we forget, it was Truman who broke faith with Chiang Kai-shek and failed to provide promised military and logistic support against Mao.
The depth and severity of the Cold War can be largely traced back to Truman’s failures, and the Korean Conflict and our current situation with China are very much a product of his weakness.
The simple reality is that Truman abandoned our allies and our promises because he believed the American public would not support him in the next election unless he brought the troops home immediately, and kept them at home.
“America needs you, Harry Truman,Harry could you please come home.Things are looking bad, I know you would be mad,To see what kind of menPrevail upon the land you love.”
Because it’s always been easier to stand behind a wall and lob verbal abuse at those that don’t share your particular viewpoint, occasionally citing this or that document that proves (read: confirms) your beliefs, instead of having a meaningful dialogue with them. Social media didn’t create it, it just made it easier to A, reach more people at once, and B, stay anonymous; since humanity has a disturbing capacity for sociopathic behavior when we think we can get away without getting caught, the verbal abuse only gets worse, because now, you’re not dealing with another rational human being. God help us all.
