Brutus needs to stop bothering his boss about a raise. It is obvious his boss does not think he is worth his current salary and only keeps him around out of pity. He knows how lazy and incompetent Brutus is and that no one else would even consider hiring him. He also knows they have a kid and that his wife doesn’t work. He would love to fire him but his conscious want let him. He deals with this by insulting Brutus on a regular basis
Never threaten to leave a job, they will find a way to eliminate you before you leave. If you are unhappy in a job, quietly look for another. You are in a better bargaining position in your job search while you are still employed. Get your new job offer in writing before giving your notice. Never burn a bridge unless you are sure you want to burn it.
The Born Loser and his boss have a very strange relationship! On the one hand, Brutus is being constantly denigrated by his Employer. On the other hand, they occasionally dine together and, otherwise, ‘hobnob’! Strange.

Terrifying to know you can be replaced by a vacancy.

Everyone can be replaced… even if it is only by a void. Leave or stay, but don’t threaten, especially if you can’t afford to be fired.
