Someone thought they’d end up alone and change clothes/shower and things’d get steamy…epic failure. Luann was merely dropped home where she still lives with the ’rents. So, another epic failure at romance.
Will Luann ever go back to the figure drawing class, or has it served its purpose (getting Jack back together with Luann) and will never be mentioned again?
I, for one, am a little disappointed and let down. I had hoped to see the interaction between Luann and Jack play out. Nothing risque necessary (like, “Let’s get out of these wet and/or grimy clothes”), but just a better picture of how the balance goes after the tire incident.
So, apparently it was the drive-through for a belly bomber and not the pizza-deluxe.
Luann seems rather buzzed about how the day turned out. Maybe she’ll do some private sketches from memory, later, in her room.
We’ll definitely see more of Jack, but not in life class. I think that isn’t something this strip will pursue. Too many titillating comments. Arlo & Janis owns that title.
Next week I would like to see Luann relate the day’s events to Tara. It would be an interesting exchange. I’m sure Tara would push for Lu to try modeling. If Lu were to ever needs 50 bucks, she knows where to go. I wonder what Nil would focus on at that sitting?
But I think the Al & Irma story line will probably return. Don’t think It will be Tiffany. That arc needs some sort of reset!
5) And most importantly, what do you REALLY think of Jack as a “potential” ANYTHING?
All Unanswered questions for inquiring minds. Oh Well. And count as Me as being among those thinking that we’ll probably move to a new arc next week. I’m really hoping that we find out that Mr. Farrell has married Ann Eiffel. But no doubt, it’ll end being Tiffany telling Mrs Fogarty, how “happy” she is, now that she has gotten all “Cozy-Cozy” with her “new best friend,” (GAG, VOMIT) Les……,
Luann is profoundly uncurious about sex and indeed even afraid of her own sexuality. We’ve established that she’s well above the age of 18 by now and still a virgin, which is unusual for an American woman of her age. The average age is 17. Once again this strip proves itself not about young people but about the idealistic notions of what old people who read newspapers think young people are like….
OH, the Jack came back. He wouldn’t stay away. But Quill was on the Porch the very next day. Then Gunther drove up and at the mouth began to foam…now there’s a fight at good Luann’s home.. ##
I thought this minor arc did “play out”. It was just a casual date with a non-romantic element thrown in. I want the Evanses to take their time producing the best and most believable story. Perhaps something slightly flummoxing will always happen when they do anything together.
1. Why did she get so dirty just changing a tire? I once worked in an auto center, Oil, tires, batteries, no mechanical work, and I could do 20 tires a day and not get that messed up.2. When will we really hear the end of the Great Lingerie scandal and Tiff and her dad and ……..?
Hey, Nancy! You need to get to know Jack as we have and discover for yourself that (misguided first impressions aside) he’s an okay guy. Maybe Nil could arrange a spot for you in the life drawing class, too (on either one side or the other of the easel)….

Wait Just a Darn Minute Here. Luann?
1) How was dinner with Jack?
2) What did you two talk about?
3) Does he live here in town?
4) Did he ask you out on another date?
5) And most importantly, what do you REALLY think of Jack as a “potential” ANYTHING?

Let us note that the date was a success by Luann’s standards and that is all that matters.
