Perked eyebrows on security rats duly noted. It’s either “Here we go again, the rabbit’s got a job for us.” or “Another doomed fool.” Either way, they don’t look too keen on having Jacob order them about.
Probably not a good move on Jake’s part. Philo had credibility and is wiling to admit he was wrong. Putting Philo topside with no explanation to the populace will only increase the rumor-mongering.
If Jacob isn’t fibbing to Philo and is really just going to have him killed, then some points occur to me. It’s already been shown that the colonies communicate with each other. But it seems that they may not share resources-since Alpha Seven has a food shortage. Also, why would Alpha Seven accept an incorrigable from Endtown? Even if they did—how would Philo get there? Would he get put out to the surface and then nudged in the direction to go? When Philo doesn’t show up any more, telling the Endtowners that he was exiled to another town would probably go over better.
Philo: “Umm… Just a second, let me think… wait, wait, I almost got it. Yeah, there was one thing Cooper mentioned one night. Let me stay here and help you, and I’ll follow up on the lead myself (I’m a reporter, after all). Yeah, that’s the ticket.”
If Philo gets summarily ejected by the mayor, it seems an even more clear indication that Endtown is a dictatorship rather than a democracy. No hearing, no due process.
Wally survived quite a while on his own top-side, but Philo may not. Especially if he’s booted out with no supplies, which would essentially make his ejection a death sentence.
I, too, am curious about the approaching rats. Will they do what Jake says and send Philo up the elevator on a one-way trip, or will both Jake and Philo be ejected from Endtown by the rats? Definitely would be a twist to have two individuals who detest one another be forced to work together to survive.
I was kind of hoping that this was a bluff on Jake’s part to get Philo to offer to help in some way. I have no idea how, but that is where my poor, mad brain is going. We shall see.

Wouldn’t it be rich if the rats escorted both of them to the surface and Jake and Philo had to work together to survive?

So much for Jake enlisting Philo in his cause. Question: Is Alpha Seven meant to be a death sentence?

Jacob’s doing the logical thing… expelling the fox from the hen house. It’s obvious he’s tired of being egged on.

Take it from someone who knows… It’s not easy finding new work once you’ve been made redundant.

Do the powers of the office of mayor extend to ejecting Endtown inhabitants?

Well that’s one (or two) problem(s) taken care of, depending on what happens next.

I like that the Wabbit’s in charge! Great irony. Unlike Mayor Lionheart.
