If you think adulthood is rough, try being old.

Well, if the guy next to Axel is the brother, a lot of us were wrong about who he would be. Frankly, I think many of our speculations were better.

Axel was cesarean.

Greg & Karen continue to disappoint. If they want to redeem themselves, they’d make the nerdy brother interesting enough to hook Luann because she’s never been interested in nerdy guys – after all the years she’s ignored, Gunther.

I’m betting Axel’s brother is Jack.

So there’s one potential way to satisfy everyone. Luann, call Fay’s mother, and tell her Fay wants to talk to her. Let Fay confess to lying, and ask permission to stay. With luck, since you’re already at The Fuse, she’ll allow it, since both children do have chaperones. And even if she doesn’t allow it this time, Fay’s honesty will help pave the way for another date in the future.

GEE!!!!! I can’t wait to meet the parents.

Is that Axel’s brother? What a letdown!

I wonder if this is the end of this arc, or if we will see a) Fay tell Axel the date is off, b) the brother (assuming beaker-head isn’t the brother), and/or c) Fay ’fess up to her mom.

Yep adulthood sucks then you get older then your life really sucks.

If that dude is Axel’s brother, they came from different litters. Greg could not have drawn them more differently. The only shared gene pool is the chin. Bottlescope did suggest adoption.

I had been concerned that flashback week was to establish Aaron Hill for newer readers. That would have diverted the story line away from Fay’s situation.

Anybody care to lay odds that the young man in Panel Three is NOT Axel’s “Brother?”

No? Well, anybody care to lay odds that this Arc continues into next week and at least someone will complain bitterly about “Still No Tiffany and Ann Eiffel?”

Would the help-yourself punch bowl pass muster with the health regulations that apply to an establishment such as the Fuse, which has a licensed restaurant? And the Fuse is usually drawn as a tad more hip than the bare utility table.

So far, so bad. With Luann & Fay’s brother present, this would have been a date – not a DATE. However it seems most readers think Fay has committed an unforgivable breach of trust by not telling her Mom that she is attracted to somebody she is going to see at the movie. I think Luann’s decision was harsh, although Luann was in fact put in a worse position than anybody else if something goes wrong. If this is the end of the arc – it’s awfully Sunday school for Greg & Karen. And gimmie a break! Luann says adult things are not lying and sneaking around. They must not have a TV at Luann’s house.

Well, that was an unespected turn of the arc – love that tbh.

I lose my bet, I suppose….. It’s going a ho-hum route instead. :(

I like adulthood much better than childhood. I can choose to do whatever I want and eat whatever I want. As a child I was forced to do many things I hated and eat gross foods. Adult life is much better for me. And now I live with people I like who like me.

So far this arc seems to be about teaching Fay a lesson in responsible behavior. Or Luann being a better mother that Mrs. Garcia. Or the global Luann strip reader about irresponsible behavior. Meh!

Pardon me but isn’t that the purview of Sesame Street? Or maybe Archie? Come on GnK! Why can’t Luann have something exciting in her life like the supporting characters? There’s been nothing REALLY going on since Quill.

I’m still holding out hopes for “The Brother.” Bernice’s bro would be interesting. OR! Someone a bit older than Luann? Maybe 4 or 4 years? Hmmm? :o)

Shout-out to all y’all who predicted “Ozzie” here would prove to be Axel’s brother! :D

Why can’t Luann stretch the truth a little. Fay was actually taken to the movie and Axle just happened to be there. It’s not like they are going to run off and get married. And we have seen how Luann has chased guys away, Quil. She dumped him because she thought he was seeing Pru. Why didn’t she just ask him?

Luann has a ways to go for the full trauma of adulthood. She lives at home and helps sparingly around the house.

I think the young man with Axel is the person he was with at a play at the school or other venue we saw before. That head stands out, pun intended. Greg pulls another surprise rabbit out of the hat. Lets see what else.

Luann will be a good mom.

If that isn’t Axel’s big brother…I wonder if Luann will even meet him tonight. Thus the mystery of his identity continues until another story arc comes along…

Fay is a T.I.T. (Tiffany in training), but I miss the original..Come home, Tiff, all is forgiven.

Give me a break. Being an adult means taking responsibility and not lying? Anyone familier with the number of sucessful tall people with chizeled abs and fullfing lives on OKCupid? Dating is all about lying diplomatically, even if it’s just wearing makeup to emphasize your best features. I understand Luann covering her own ass by taking Faye home and telling mom, but upping the embaresment by making her tell Axel is just mean. At best, call mom and let her know. Also, adulthood is whatever you choose to make it, fun or not. Being responsible doesn’t make you an adult, nor does not lying.

I thought the guy next to Axel looked like a Chia Pet.

Judging by that last panel, Luann is still pissed off about having to wash her own shirt for work.

At the time I write this, about 131 comments, roughly half of what this strip usually draws. Notably missing is Pipe Tobacco.

Is this an indication of disappointment in the outcome of this arc?

Luann and Fay can not be standing near the front door looking at Axel. There is a left-hand corner and we have seen the front and left-hand side of the Fuse exterior.

The next time we see Fay ( in a few weeks I predict), she’ll be complaining to Luann that she’s grounded for XX weeks for this little stunt.

“Adulthood” is so boring. If that is Axel’s brother next to him in panel 2, the trip into the movie was not worth the time it took. Let Fay get this episode over with, now!

Am I allowed to be impressed with Luann’s maturity?
