Interestingly, “cootie” was once a term for a tick or a head louse, then by extension any communicable insect.

I once used this phrase to a male coworker of mine;who kept bugging me for my lunch daily. Boy.did he get it…I had never seen a guy laughed so hard.

All young boys know that girls carry that bug known as a cootie.I think there’s even a toy as such.
