You look at the picture and make the same thing. I build furniture from scratch for myself and don’t see how assembling parts can be so complicated. I’ve made kits like my grandfather’s clock that is just wood parts that need to be finished, glued and screwed together.
I’ve assembled things based on instructions written in a language that uses some of the same words as English. It was easier than using the pictographs that come with some items. The Rosetta Stone can’t even help with some of those.
What’s even worse is then the instructions are out-and-out wrong. I’ve gotten good at taking pictures of things as I disassemble them and label them 01.jpg, 02.jpg … and bagging the screws in bags marked 01, 02 …
I’ve assembled tons of flat packed furniture from many different manufacturers and never found any pictorial instructions difficult. Whereas written instructions that use English words but not English syntax or grammar are far worse! I take it that this comic makes fun of the assembler who doesn’t grasp the basics, not of IKEA.
