I don’t think “available resources to be taken proper advantage of” should include killing & eating the meat of fellow mutants that just happen to have the misfortune to be either an anthropomorphic pig, cow, chicken, or fish. I’m guessing this must be a more subtle form of schism manifesting itself by thinking oneself a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore because one has mutated into that animal species.

She is a member!! Score one for Velda. She probably infiltrated that circle like she did Allgood. But remember that was Jacob’s idea. Accept what you are…..be used as a producer. Now being used as a product is a bit beyond the Jacob plan.

We’re about at a point where we’re going to need Deux es Machina! I had held out hope that Mavis was yet another “good guy” getting framed, a la Foxworthy, but I guess that’s not so, either.

Right now, this entire arc looks like it fulfills the following:

    All’s well that ends!

Because it sure isn’t going to end well!

Step One on the way to being like Liberty, just more technologically advanced. Morality aside, it’s like Sarah pointed out, not a sustainable model. You run out of herbivores and then what? It becomes a dog-eat-dog situation. Until there’s one left, and that one dies of old age.

What they need is a way to create food. And lots of it.

So, the toothmarks on the bones were made by Mavis’ group. They weren’t inspiring the cannibalism-they were doing it. We got a look into how this could turn out back when we visited Unity. If the Rats hadn’t been in Endtown, another Unity…but with Wolves instead of Reptilians. And we know what they ate in Unity….

Jacob has forgotten to account for Endtown’s Detective Columbo. “Oh, and there’s just one last thing I don’t understand. The wine splashes on the body’s face are dry, all the way down to the base of the fur. But the spills on the rug and the sofa are still damp. That can only mean that someone or something… dried her fur when she was somewhere else and put her body back onto the couch… but you see the problem was this was AFTER after rigor mortis is started to set in. So she CAN’T have just fallen asleep and died, can she?”

Jake will have to use the brain homogenizer anyways or the committee will find out from Mavis. Easier to homogenize her and have them think she had a stroke and she’s still breathing so they think they’re safe than find her dead and possibly have that raise questions.

Granny Weatherwax: “Evil is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what evil is.”

Oats: “It’s a lot more complicated than that-”

Granny Weatherwax: “No. It ain’t. When people say things are more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”

Oats: “Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes-”

Granny Weatherwax: “But they START with thinking about people as things…”

Mavis: “They were there, looking all succulent and juicy and mouth-watering. And we wanted to eat them. What else do you need in a free market system?”

Endtown cannot live on canned beans alone…, and Jacob, of all people, should remember that. During the first arc, when one of the foragers returned with a huge bag of canned beans, Jacob was one of the reporters who tried to interview him. He pretty much said that his life was over if he brought home more beans…

“Taking advantage of available resources” Is this the logical outcome of the Milk and Egg trials? If it’s OK to use the by-products of anthromorphic humans, will it also be OK to use the humans themselves? It’s a small step……

This hearkens back to the milk trial again, where they made a big thing about consuming mutant milk and eggs. I think detractors were afraid that it would lead to a slippery slope with exploitation or cannibalism on the bottom. Of course there is a VERY solid line to draw between volunteers donating consumables and those kind of things, but I’m wondering if rumors of a food shortage lead to this. So which came first, murdering delicious citizens or the fake stories of scarcity?
