Hi, Jack. Fancy meeting you here.

The last time we saw Jack and Luann together, she ended up changing his tire… and looking very happy when she finally returned home. Will this week tell us a little more about what happened that rainy night?

Of course. Almost too predictable?

Gee. I was hoping it would be a new boyfriend.

Preferably, a veterinarian!

Am I alone in being glad to see Jack? He and Luann have fun together and I think she deserves to have a few good times during her college years. Dating does not mean hot romance and a lifetime commitment. Just a few laughs and enjoying company.

Luann’s love life has gone to the dogs.

AND….he has a puppy.

If Luann were that interested in Jack – You’d think she would have called him to say she was going to the dog park. Well – maybe she did – hard to tell. G & K have done a good job moving from arc to arc and keeping the threads alive.

Uh – Oh. This Great Dane really likes Puddles…

Called it – but then again, it was predictable. Does Jack look a little less “caveman-ish” to anyone?

And if Jack asks you out, remember that You are under NO obligation to say “Yes.”

Although, You might want to consider giving the Guy a Chance.

Since “dating” has lately become an “Alien Concept” within the VAST Luanniverse, You may want to “break the mold.” Heck, if Jack doesn’t have his usual streak of bad luck, THIS “date” might be fun.

At Least YOU would be “dating.” I’m pretty sure your old pals Bernice and Gunther AREN’T.

Okay, so, the doggy ride was a bit longwinded, but at least we ended up with a decent plot lie to follow for a couple weeks!

Jack is back! Although to tell the truth it is pretty predictable, but I hesitated to predict it, even though I agreed with the posters who predicted both the dog park, and Jack. Now that they are right, with all the clues, lets see where this goes. I will go off on the deep end, and say this will end up being a very serious romance for both of them. And I like Jack. His sunny personality type fits Luann’s but the issue is whether and to what extent there is a there there.

Speaking of nude models…

Everybody seems to be focusing on Jack, and not on the dog run. Which is enormous. And pristine. I know out in the country runs are big, but I’ve never seen one so lush and verdant. And speaking of lush and verdant, Luann is in college and still a virgin. Not sure about Pud. Probably not Jack, though there is a certain innocent quality there.

YEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!! Finally we get to see Lunn and Jack Together in the dog park!!! I’m so happy!!!

I don’t see any reason Luann wouldn’t be happy to see Jack. She’s done nothing but have a good time with him, even when bad things have happened. If he has a bad side, it hasn’t been shown yet.

Ah, here we go! I wondered where this arc was going! I was afraid Lu was going to have a car collision for not paying attention to the road in Monday’s strip. Whew!

This will be very interesting to see if GnK make something out of Lu and Jack. He appears to be (on the surface anyway) what Lu seemed to dream of (the hunky, Aaronesque guy – although we have yet to see if he develops Aaron’s intellect). I hope for Lu’s sake that this develops into something good for her.

Jack looked like a stupid jock in the beginning…and shallow. But maybe the character is now going to be developed and he will be interesting. Personally, I think Quill was a cutie. I never liked the big, strapping jock types. I’d prefer a nerd. Ok, ok, but not Gunther. LOL

Unfortunately a few weeks ago, one of the dogs in our community was so injured by a big dog at the dog park that he had to be put down. Dog park situations force you to put a lot of trust in other dog owners.

That is one LARGE dog park! Where are the fences?

I don’t think I’ll get hte popcorn out for this one. it’s a wendnesday and we only have 3 strips left for this weeks arc. tomorrow will likely be awakward chitchat. friday will likely be him asking her on a date and satureday will likely be them in a car talking about art. then we won’t see anytthing from these two for another month.

Well here we are with another Jack encounter. My, my! Jack’s appearance seems to have undergone some changes. His body shape appears less brutish – especially his head-to-body proportion. (See 10/26/2016 and thereabout.) In fact, he’s drawn to be quite a bit “hunkier.” But then, I’m just a jock type myself. I need some female feedback about this.

Are we just off on another “Adventures With Jack” arc? Luann seems to have most of her new experiences with Jack or Tara.

Is GnK positioning Luann and Jack for more serious dating? Recall how Brad’s appearance morphed as the Toni relationship developed – especially his eggheadedness. Recall that Quill was quite buff, though slimmer.

Jack’s bulldog pup (or Toy) seems to mirror his character. As does Puddles with Luann – cute, friendly and prone to making or get into a mess.

Now, Now. I think everyone should Chillax, and not get overly concerned with any budding “romance” between Lu and Jack, although a brief one would be as much FUN as a brief Tiffany/Gunther romance WOULD have been, if G&K had allowed it.

But I digress.

There’s only been one romance in this Strip that’s ever gone to its fruition, and that’s Brad/Toni. Not a very good track record for a Strip that’s been running for over three decades, IMHO. And I’d hesitate to call whatever Knute and Crystal have going on as a “romance.”

Nope.

Zane and Bernice.

Luann and Quill.

Gunther and Rosa.

Everyone of them, the “Big Bust-Up.” And in each one, at least one of the partners left the Strip, apparently FOREVER.

So I wouldn’t worry about Jack and Luann. “IF” something happens, it won’t last.

Is that a bulldog?

At the dog park there are dogs that look like dogs, with their owners, who look like real humans. Then here comes puddles, who, alone among all the characters in “Luann,” has failed to evolve. He remains a ‘Toon, poor freak that he is, because of the artist’s whimsical decision to let the poor pooch remain a creature forgotten by the progress of this strip and the characters who inhabit it.

Watch your step.

Alternative theory: Puddles doesn’t look like a real dog because Luann is really a witch and Puddles is her demon familiar.

More seriously, Jack would be more plausible as a b/f if it weren’t for all those other girlfriends. Gunther’s really focused on Tiffany now and they do make an interesting couple. What might be really a shakeup would be a relationship between Luann and Les Knox. Les does work for Luann’s parents and he lives with Gunther now. And while Ann Eiffel may not actually be the prospective mother-in-law-from-Hell, she certainly belongs there. Just having Les make a pass at Luann would be great.

I know some of you all really like the Jack character but man, he just doesn’t seem right for Luann to me. So far, he has been portrayed as a guy without substance, that Luann’s just another potential conquest. Ah, I guess I could be reading too much into it or maybe Greg will add things to show he does have substance later. He’s not Dirk jerk level but he seems to have some low level jerk tendencies. Eye of the beholder I guess….

Yay, Jack! I’d like to see how they turn out.

Jack’s dog (Max?) looks cute. Puddles has always been drawn in some extreme cartoon form with his elongated head, no neck, huge nose and eyes popping out; the other silhouetted dogs along with Max actually look like dogs compared to Puddles.

Last panel yesterday, first panel today. Puddles transmits more emotion in 2 panels than Uncle Al has in 2 years. I don’t care if his role model is a basketball.

Good grief! A “Playmate girl-next-door” reference? We all know that Jack isn’t nearly as bad as he looks, but this seems unlikely to end well (or soon)….

Hey here is a thought: will Jack be the one that Luann finally does the nasty with? If so how would that be done in a way that fits in a family strip? If they do would they still break up, as all her relationships do, or will she end up being Mrs. Jack eventually? None of this is out of the realm of possibility.
