It’s kinda’ interesting that covert tapes brought Tricky Dick (Bob) down, and thus Trumpy wants nothing on the record, yet won’t shut up. Artificial intelligence MAY be less dangerous than humans who lack intelligencs.

@DTROUTMA: They are both dangerous, but at least Alexa still lacks fingers to push buttons releasing nuclear weapons… (sorry for linear thinking)…

I guess that’s the current fear for some: that a few humans will begin to think of that kind of device as an actual companion and not just another household appliance. But, it’s not something I am ever going to have in my house.

Artificial Intelligence and robotics will give humanity the Utopia of which it has always dreamed: an end to working for survival (thus ending hunger, economic disparity, and greed—-no further need for resource allocation or war), longer lifespans (through cybernetics and nanobiological implants), and the time and ability to become a spacefaring species (via intelligence augmentation with bluetooth chip implants—or some similar new tech). One would think Libs would be totally on board, but their projection of their self-loathing onto the rest of humanity precludes them from seeing the good that mankind can do.

Joe stands as the proof of Alexa’s argument: anyone who’d take a digital assistant into a bar, of all places, is as dumb as unsliced salami.

On further reflection … That sounds like the great set-up to a joke: Two guys and a digital assistant walk into a bar …

Actually, the solution is to stop using social media or at least act like an adult when on twitter instead of a toddler. Reminds me of a few days ago when actor Mark Duplass tweeted that conservative speaker and Orthodox Jew Ben Shapiro was a “genuine person” and “nice,” even though they didn’t agree on much. The twitteratti lost their minds and lambasted Duplass so badly that he was compelled to apologize the very next day. He had to apologize because he said that a conservative was also a good person and nice as if somehow that wasn’t possible. So much for “tolerance.”

Few notice that these digital assistants are manufactured by the Skynet corporation.

It all starts with the U.S. military turning over their entire defence to Sky Net built by the Teledyne Corp.

For a nicer take on the evolution of A.I., may I suggest “Cat Pictures Please” by Naomi Kritzer? http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/kritzer_01_15/

Another winner from Wiley, at least in terms of comments. I am impressed by the growth of AI, but also by the return of many people to the satisfaction that comes from the old ways of crafting, cooking, making music, etc. and from human interaction. My microwave is smarter than I am, but I’m going to cook some eggs in a stupid cast iron skillet.

We don’t need to worry about AI.

Rule Number One of Computer Programming:

You cannot program a computer to do anything the Programmer does not know how to do.

So, before we get computers that think, we’ll need some Human Beings who know how to think.

Yep… Skynet will take over, just like it’s meant to… Of course, it won’t matter in the end when the Super-Volcano in Yellowstone reshapes the landscape and sends the Northern portion of the hemisphere into a second Ice Age… :)

Cue up the ominous fanfare from “2001, A Space Odyssey” (Thus also spake Zarathustra). HAL already had the solution figured out.
