Such an example of Male pattern supremacy. Actually critical social theory includes critical feminist theory which points out how groups of people are discriminated against because of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or religious identity, physical disability or characteristics, and on and on. I think this panel is both a funny and apt way to express the irony of and the need for change on the gender basis.
@drewpamon: There are international building and fire codes that any building open to the public, or meant to be inhabited by people, must comply with in order to be issued certificates of occupancy, and these rules apply in the USA as well as elsewhere. If you base your decision to violate codes on the fact that you are paying for a restroom, so why do you have to be bothered with such fripperies, be prepared to receive not one penny of funding from a lending institution to build to begin with, and also that no insurer will write a policy to cover your building.
Studies such as those completed at Belgium’s Bhent University have found that restrooms in the USA, which generally have the same square footage, are able to accommodate more men than women because the space in a men’s room can hold 3 urinals and 2 stalls, while the same space can only 3 stalls (thus meaning only 3 women can use a restroom at the same time, while 5 men can use a restroom.) This is part of the reason why international codes are changing. Another is the fact that men don’t have to take the time to do stuff like change tampons.
But you go right ahead and stick with that good ole ‘Murican code to provide less potty space for women. When your competitors provide better facilities and you go broke, don’t waste time trying to figure out what happened.
Typical bs,If women would just go in and do their business instead of taking their social hour ,there wouldn’t be a line like that. My mother would always say why is the woman’s room so long, she would be in-and-out faster than most men.
I was at a concert last night and saw women running interference outside the men’s room for women. It was a ladies retreat type concert but there were about 6 or 7 men there, mostly workers but they understood and waited.
Take Note, Lu. This is what the line at the ladies room will look like at the Monster Truck Rally. Only three times LONGER since they usually serve beer at those events.
Hey Lu? Why not take Bernice along when you go to the show? It would fun to see Her freak out over the deafening ROAR of over-powered engines…….,
I know this comment will not be politically correct, but looking at this cartoon from the ideas and perspectives of the 50’s, the sign over the lined up door might read “Me, Too” and the door next to it, also a woman’s room, would read, “I should be so lucky.” Sorry to offend, but in the 50’s, a good slap would have probably replaced the need for lawyers. Big brothers were also to be feared.
the french tried a public outdoor urinal for men, I guess it got mixed reviews. cheap to install and maintaindon’t think there’s any plans for a female version
I remember reading something on an Academy Awards after party: Julia Roberts wasn’t about to wait – and she headed to the men’s room. She was high fiving the kitchen help on the way.
back to the monster truck show tomorrow, i’m predicting that Tara and Jack will connect over this one. Tara is a jeep driving outdoorsy type and Jack has a pick-up. They will come appropriately dressed. Luann will perhaps feel out of place.
Hey, there are only about 15 or so women ahead of you in line, Lu and Bernie! You can do it! I would advise using the Men’s Room, though, if it doesn’t offend your prudishness….
My wife and I attended a concert at Grant Park in Chicago, which drew about 300,000. There were the two sets of rest rooms of equal size. The people solved the problem by each man, with a wife, daughter, or girlfriend, took his place in the line that formed outside the men’s room. The men then divided the the urinal side from the stool side. Each man and woman moved forward with the line until they reached the door. The man then took his place in a line of other men, turned his back to the stool side so as to form a wall of concerned men to protect their charges. When through, the couple left together and were replaced by the next couple. It worked out all on its own
I’d honestly turn the other way and look for another bathroom. My schools got three(one on each floor). They all couldn’t possibly be full. I’d rather hold it then to wait that long for it.

In our area, if there is new building construction for large venues, they are required by law to put in more women’s restrooms than men’s restrooms.

Someone give Knute a call so he can block off the men’s room for their use, like he did for Crystal back in high school.

I would say to hell with it and go use the men’s room.

I attend LSU football games for the past 35 years as a season ticket holder and trust me i see more woman line up in men’s bathrooms.

Thats a great Idea! I’ve often thought of that idea for years, when I’d see a long line for the women’s restrooms. Now your making progress!

To express TRUE equality with men, you could always just go outside and relieve yourselves behind the dumpster. :o)

Then there is that little quirk of women to always go to the bathroom in twos. What’s with that?

Look like a bunch of squatters. I’m sorry, no offense. Women need to create a faster way to pee. Take charge ladies.

I’ve seen a number of instances where the Women in those Lines got fed up and executed a Hostile Takeover of the Men’s room.
They just walked into the Men’s room and Ordered all the men to “Find another rest room. We’re going to be using this one until the Lines are Gone.”

Luann should have been with Tara. Tara would have hollered into the men’s room. If no reply, she would have motioned for Luann to join her.
