It reminds me of the scene in Soylent Green where Edward G. Robinson was riding the bike to generate electricity to supply power to the apartment.
There are places in India where the guy in the call center, sits on a bike with a laptop on the handlebars and helps you with your computer problems. “Turn off. Turn On. Better now?”
Afterwards he winds down to the soundtrack to Legs Misérables.

This actually might not be a bad idea. Less dangerous than riding a bike around town, less stuffy than pedaling indoors.
It’s “sustainable”, but for how long can he sustain it?
