People who put up signs like that must themselves angels. I’m sure that for them it must be hard with the world letting them down and all the imperfection all around. But we are what we are.
Growing up, my parents constantly pounded into my head that anything short of perfection was failure. And being a naive kid, I was stupid enough to believe them. Grew up to be anything but "sane and balanced’.
Years ago at work, our company had a motivational poster in the break room. It read, “How are you going to find time to do the job right if you don’t do it right the first time?” I attached a post-it note to it lest I get fired for damaging company property. The note read “Overtime!”Being a union shop, the boss was not happy.
Like most workers, I feel I’m lost in an uncaring bureaucracy. They’ll come up with stupid policy like telling us to push pallet jacks instead of pulling them, or they’ll remind us to keep cool in the summer, then take the fans out of the man-up lifts. In the mean time, they will take forever to make safety improvements if it requires effort from them, such as replacing burnt-out lights or fixing the step ladders. When they have a safety slogan contest, I wonder if we can’t have a deal where we get to create posters that are put up in the national corporate headquarters office: “If you can’t afford safety, you can’t afford to stay in business. Put up the safety improvements, or put up a for sale sign. It’s not profits first, it’s safety first.” Then show these signs to potential stock buyers.
As a retiring friend tells me, as our workplace turns to cr*p under new leadership – learn not to care. Great evaluation or poor, everyone gets the same neglible raise in state government.

How can I strive for perfection when you only pay me for “Good Enough”?

Tom Scholz tried that. That is why there were only 4 Boston albums in nearly 20 years.

Does Pig still have his job?
I’m guessing not. So much for daring to use the company’s breakroom wall to express your opinion that is opposed to the official company line….
