I sense a rapidly impending appearance of the no-no spray bottle though to be fair to Lupin it is asking a lot for a cat of adventure to not bat at the new “cat toys” :)
Oh dear. Even in panel one, Lupin’s got his eyes on this new hanging toy. How thoughtful of the People to get an adventurous toy for them. Lots of challenges in climbing up. Lots of Lupin THWUMP when he jumps off.
My parents got a cuckoo clock as a wedding present. Fifteen years of kitties leaving the weights alone, then along comes Chessie. She thought they were the coolest things EVAR!!! And no-no spray bottles didn’t work on her.
The issue was only resolved when we decided to stop winding the clock.
Good morning and happy Tuesday/Mewsday/Bluesday, orbsters and orbabies. Paul’s feeding tube is being removed today. He never used it during his treatment. Another step out of the way.
We had two cuckoo clocks when I was growing up. I have no clue what happened to them; I had them when I moved to Ontario in 1994. They disappeared after my second husband died. I have the feeling that one of his children grabbed them in the inevitable chaos that follows a death. I miss my clocks.
My aunt and uncle had a cuckoo clock. The four of us kids were fascinated by it growing up. When Uncle Charlie passed a couple of years ago (Aunt Maryann predeceased him by several years) my mother reached out to us to ask if any of us wanted anything of his. All four of us asked about the clock. Unknown to us, he gave it away after Aunt Maryann passed.
My Aunt Hat had 3 cuckoo clocks all in the same room, which of course one rarely ever got to go in. We could hear them but almost never saw them. If you got past the kitchen it was a very rare & special occasion indeed. When she and then her sister passed away, I asked my cousin what he wanted and he asked for 1 or them.
Good morning all, taking care of feral cats is a calling, I never knowing if they will stop by today for breakfast or not and worry about them without any recourse to their well being. My crib mate in Fla. has a feral family that will visit her apt. and has had great success. she sends me postings by a man who has dedicated his life to taking care of ferals. he posts on face book and is very interesting, worth a look/see. Oh Lupin, Py would have told you, stay away from the pine cones and go straight for the swinging leaf. That was how he, at 15, brought Gram’s cuckoo clock crashing to the ground and smacked the bird into submission. Right after I had had it cleaned and repaired.
Please send prayers, good vibes, etc for some friends whose cat, Sherman is missing. They think he might have run away because he was scared of the new dog they brought home. He is very fearful and cautious. They are hoping that he found another home close by and not that anything else happened to him.
I had a cuckoo clock once, that my three boys, Freddy, Petey and Tag, brothers all, destroyed. They had to jump and climb a chair to do it, but do it they did. There is just something about those clocks that says break me. LOL.
Chatham NJ 1946 I followed a neighbor teen ager 5 blocks to a property owned by an old man who had an enormous cuckoo- clock in his small house. We climbed a large cherry tree to pick cherries for him. Our reward was to see his clock in action. Every 15 minutes something came out a door to entertain a moment in time. On the hour it was quite a show. Ornate carvings on huge wood clack were eye candy. A summer treat to climb a tree, & then see a cuckoo clock motion/music show.
It’s Georgia and Ryan’s Wedding Anniversary. That’s over on her Facebook page but the actually wedding ceremony is on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TRJNx5VuG8&app=desktop
My mother had a cuckoo clock. It was a gift from her sister-in-law who was a German war bride. She met my uncle during the occupation of Germany at the end of World War II. He had landed at D-Day and was part of the forces that fought their way across Europe. Sadly, he died far too young of a heart attack. He was buried with full military honors. It was a very moving scene. I lost touch over the years, but ran into her many years later when she was working at Samford University, a Baptist institution south of Birmingham, AL. I was working on a project for a class in public relations, and we were putting together a PR plan for the school. We were the best in the class.
You are right, Lupin! The People are nincompoops to think they could display an object like that and expect it to remain undisturbed in a roomful of cats. So congratulations! You have just proven that felis catus has at least a 30-point advantage over humans on intelligence.
. . . BREAKING GEORGIA DUNN NEWS! Today is her 7th Wedding Anniversary! ❤️
“Seven years ago today, the Man and I got married! ❤️ If you’re a fan of both Keith Apicary’s ‘Talking Classics’ and ‘Breaking Cat News’, you may have one of the cutest accidental fandom crossovers in the history of the Internet? In any case, you can actually watch our wedding here, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7TRJNx5VuG8 because it appeared on an episode of Talking Classics! Many thanks forever to the incredibly talented Nathan Barnatt for being kind enough to marry two crazy kids with a real weird dream!”
If, you didn’t get invited to her wedding, you can watch it here . . . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7TRJNx5VuG8
Please, share your thoughts and congratulate this couple, if you like? Any good advice? ❤️ :)
As many have noticed, Lupin IS wearing his Adventure hat, but notice the time…I say Lupin engages, but Puck ends up saving the day, perhaps when the top of the hour hullabaloo ensues. After all, there are leaves all over that clock (and pendulum) and we know who protects us all from the attacking leaves every fall!
Regardless, it will be fun to watch!!! For us anyway, somebody call CPS! (Clock Protective Services….)

But, is it as fragile as the secretarial?

My grandmother had one – the pine cone weights on the winding chains are heavy!

Another fragile antique. At least it won’t be as incredibly heavy as the secretarial. I’m sure the boys will look after it well.

Forget all the weights and counter weights. Wait until the boys see the little bird come out on the hour.

We had one of those Kit Kat clocks with the tail that swings back and forth. Any guesses as to how long that lasted?

Tell the boys it’s an expensive cat toy and bring in the box it came it. They will then ignore the clock and play in the box.

For about a month, every time the Cuckoo makes an appearance the Boys will probably leap several feet straight up.
After that, it will be Operation: Get the Cuckoo!
