This is like when Blossom runs and hides under the bed when she hears the Scary Doorbell! NOPE indeed!
Poor Lupin. He can’t hear the Scary Noises, so instead he gets to wonder why his big brothers are suddenly in Poof Mode. It’s so hard being a kitty, isn’t it?
They got back to the deli about 6AM, and Jimmy was just getting ready open (even on weekdays he did a fair breakfast business, what with the frittatas and his special scrambled egg wraps). Megan led Tre-C back through their special “cat door” into the storeroom/office and they were about to nestle down, when Tre-C said; “You’re not going to believe this, Meg, but I’m getting hungry.” Megan immediately rose to her feet and stretched; “Yeah, I could go for a bite myself. That’s the danger in having my office here…The smells are so good it always makes me want to snack.” Tre-C couldn’t resist; “Well, you certainly look good, anyway. You can’t be more than Ten, tops." Megan let out a sharp laugh; “You flatterer! Last time I got on the scale I was eleven-seven!” Jimmy, who was finishing loading the display case heard Megan’s laugh, but- poor Human- his response was “Well, bless you… is it dusty back there?” Tre-C turned toward Megan and rolled her eyes.
Anyone ever have one of those clocks which “Meows” at the top of the hour? I used one for one night, and that was it, couldn’t sleep with it in the same room as myself.
Oh, too funny – those facial expressions in the last panel are priceless :D
I fear in my house there’d likely be the opposite reaction. Sammy would probably startle at first but Dean would be right in there like a dirty shirt trying to kill the cuckoo. Sammy would soon join in because well, Dean’s after something and he (Sammy) might want it … and of course then a squabble would ensue and things would be knocked over, sigh
I just love the first panel with the Boys firmly behaving themselves, dangit! And the last panel with the Guardian Cuckoo, of course. I’d say the volume’s too loud, as none of our kitties have minded the birdie in our clock, but clearly the volume’s right where it needs to be.
When I was in college, my parents went to Switzerland and brought home a cuckoo clock. At that time we had a dog, and when that cuckoo started “cuckoo-ing”, the dog went wild! My parents had to turn off the clock to stop the dog from barking non-stop!On a different note, could all you Orbsters please send positive thoughts towards all of us here in Hawaii? As of tonight, Hurricane Lane is a category 5 storm and appears to be on track to directly hit us in Honolulu or come extremely near us by Thursday or Friday. Would really appreciate it! Thank you!
Priceless….Lupin with his back turned to the clock. By the time he turns around the little bird will have snapped back and he will still be clueless about what terrified Puck and Elvis. He’ll have to follow them under the bed for an explanation.
Good morning and happy Hump Day, orbsters and orbabies! Oh, my cat! This strip is hilarious. The last panel had me bent helplessly over my keyboard, trying not to laugh too loud so Paul won’t wake up! Elvis’ expression is priceless. Poor little Pucky fleeing for his live, and clueless Lupin.
Every cat for himself there, guys? Leaving Lupin, the Cat of Adventure to deal with the terror lurking behind him without even so much as a paw wave to warn him?
I once stayed with friends who had one of those old Felix the Cat clocks with the eyes that moved back and forth. To this day on quiet winter nights, I can still hear it in my head ticking, ticking, ticking….

Years ago, my husband bought me the National Audubon bird clock that had recorded bird songs that played each hour. When it first started playing, our dogs kept running into the room looking around for the birds! After a while, they finally got used to the clock. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work anymore and I miss my bird songs.
My mom had one of those bird clocks. The speaker is mostly nonworking now so all it does is make a weird hissing squeak every hour, three minutes after the hour.

Ok, seriously… my DomShor, aka the demon with the glass halo, would have had that little wooden birdie between its paws by, “Cuckoo, cuck…”

It’s like the rest of life: when everyone bolts but you can’t see why, it’s often safest to follow the herd.

Puck’s paws – awesomeness. Elvis’s “The Scream” – wonderful. Lupin’s quizzical eyebrows – fantastic.

I love that Lupin’s is confused by Puck & Elvis’ reaction. Being deaf has it’s perks.

Suddenly, without any warning, from the deep inner recesses of the clock it emerges. Satan’s Cuckoo. It was a trap.

Sometimes being a deaf kitty has its advantages. Sometimes you never hear what gets you.
Chris Sherlock about 6 years ago
Fortunately for Lupin, he’s not facing the clock, Otherwise, the cuckoo might startle him as much as the noise from it startled Elvis and Puck.
