Shaddow play appears that Denise may have gotten a swipe at Walt with the razor, the lack of any image other than flames in the last two panels makes me believe they are both beind enveloped by the fire.
Time to usher in new supporting characters. We will miss the familiar characters, but new characters await in the wings to play their role in the saga of Endtown. Good-bye Walt.
I am so sorry to see Walt and Portia go. Neither one deserved what happened to them. Their romance was too short-lived for my liking, and Denise and her wolf partner were not the only ones responsible for this tragic turn of events.
I hope Aaron Marx will do something to make their lives in the afterlife somewhat happier…
Hopefully we’ll find out on Wednesday whether Walt flung her into the fire and is on the other side where we can’t see him in Panel Four, or whether he sacrificed himself in the flames to make sure she was destroyed.
Jeez…Walt. I can see how he could have finally had enough. Whoever or whatever he was before he became a bear, he performed one act of brutal heroism which he carried guilt for and fear of ever since…6 or 7 years. Then he’s seen all the turmoil which we have seen, with the milk trial, and following events. He was directly involved with (though not responsible for) Heather Hoss, and he could not save her. All of those things, plus whatever happened with Portia could have had him decide he’d had enough. Some commenters have noted that he’d have to live with whatever violence he’s just recently committed. And this self-immolation may be his way of dealing with it. I can hope he survives this, but I don’t think he will.

Don’t know if Aaron ‘s taking any requests. For what it’s worth, after this adventure, could we please have a few weeks of Wally and Kirbee? That Christmas card of their new family was just so precious. And right now, I think we could use a few days of relief!
That’s another character added to the list of pointless casualties, There’s a certain misanthropic air to this comic that’s irritates me but much like a train wreck or car accident I cannot look away.
If Walt does survive, I think there’s a good chance that Jake will be a one term Mayor. Ridding the closed community of a mass murderer is definitely Mayor-for-life stuff. Either that or they’ll kill him…. I’d say 50/50 either way. ;-)
I mentioned back that I had grown to really dislike this storyline despite being an Endtown fan for years. I was done to checking in every two weeks. After this past sequence, if the next strip or two doesn’t switch to something other than gratuitous nihilistic violence, I am done, despite Aaron’s amazing drawing ability.
I’ve followed this strip for years, and will continue to do so. I enjoy the art, and want to see what happens next. The premise for the strip is rather dark, since it begins about 6 years after humanity has, rather brutally, cleaned out most life on the planet. It’s not surprising that many of the stories are also dark.

Well, there goes Walt, too. This arc is hemorrhaging supporting characters like an episode of Game of Thrones.

A few days ago, I predicted that Walt would restrain her, so that they both burned. Sadly, it appears that I was right.

a bit too much cliff hangers for my taste. Don´t think he dies, though it would be difficult to see him move on after this.
