Soon there won’t be anyone left who doesn’t know Frankenstein is the doctor. Then Arlo will have to explain that people used to confuse the doctor with the monster.
Okay, we all know that the Monster was created by Dr. Frankenstein (actually Mary Shelley), but we grew up hearing people (male and female) calling it “Frankenstein”, probably because “It’s Frankenstein’s Monster” is quite a mouthful. You’ve just been “womansplained.”
My wife and I just saw a filmed England’s National Theater stage production (in a movie theater) of Mary Shelley’s A New Prometheus starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein and Johnny Lee Miller as the creature. Wow! We also just saw a local theater company’s version of Young Frankenstein: The Musical. It was fun!
Don’t let some of the Alley Oop comic fans see this. Most are always complaining and it is on the part about Alley & Doc being seen by Mary Shelley thus giving her the idea to write the Book of Frankenstein!

I once read that the monster’s first name is Adam.
By the way, the novel is one of the best that I have read. It is incredibly insightful, poignant, and sad.
Myself, I always thought that the real monster is the doctor.

He is Mr. Pedant, actually.

What a poindexter Arlo is! If Frankenstein creates a monster, said monster will have the same last name as his creator. Common law.

Did Arlo pull out his pocket comb between the last two panels? If he did I missed it.

By the way, mansplaining only refers to men explaining things to women that women already know.

Enough with the monstersplaining.

The creature considered Victor his father, so Frankenstein would be the surname of both.

Why is Frankie’s monster considered a women’s bane? Or is it just Arlo?
