If there’s a war on a particular holiday this time of the year, it would seem to be a war on Chanukah. I used to be able to buy Chanukah candles, little dreidels, Chanukah cards and things like that at my local grocery store (Publix). Not this year. Guess they were worried that if they carried that merchandise, someone would accuse them of being anti-Christmas…

As a dyslexic agnostic, who is not sure if there is a dog or not, I appreciate the day off from work and an excuse to cook a special meal for friends and family. ( rib roast this year.)

At least when I was growing up in the 1970s people assumed when you said “Happy Holidays” you were covering Christmas, New Year’s Day and at most Hanukkah. I blame both the PC crowd and the cultural conservatives for vilifying what was an innocent term. I’m just happy that so far “Season’s Greetings”:" hasn’t been as vilified yet.

and where exactly does the Bible say we are to observe a pagan winter solstice. And where again is that verse that tells the believing flock when the Blessed Redeemer was born????

I’m usually a Happy Holidays guy, but if the holiday you’re celebrating is Christmas, as this clearly is, there’s no harm in graciously accepting a Christmas greeting.

Of all the evangelists in the world, atheists are certainly the most annoying.Baptists are trying to do you a favor, (in their eyes), but atheists just want to call you “deluded” or “irrational”.

I’m wondering if this really exists. In my experience, it is the other way around: people and corporations (including Fox and Trump O’s cards) say Happy Holidays to be inclusive, and the “War on Christmas” types are all saying that it is an affront to Christmas and “we should say what we want to say”, and nobody is telling them they personally can’t say it. Not even in public schools.

I have never heard of an atheist (aside from the ridiculous MRA types that are taking over its public movement) actually take offense at being told Merry Christmas. They might say Happy Holidays back, but not in the rude manner above. I’ve never heard of a Jew or a Muslim or any other religion react like that above, either.

This seems a gross exaggeration that forces the issue to make its point and the joke, rather than reflects reality. The reality would have been the other way – the liberal says Happy Holidays, the “war on Christmas” watching type would have responded “don’t you mean Merry Christmas”.

Only on Fox News is this a controversy. Everywhere else it is something we make fun of, like in this cartoon. I am more worried about federal employees not getting paid during holiday time. If you thought TSA agents were grumpy before, just wait until you encounter them without pay during the peak time for travel throughout the year.

If I know somebody celebrates Christmas, I say “Merry Christmas”. If I know they celebrate Chanukah (or however one chooses to spell it), I say “Happy Chanukah” out of respect to them. If I don’t know what they celebrate, I say “Happy Holidays” and let things sort themselves out. It’s really not a problem unless we make it one. How about “Peace on Earth”? I think everyone can relate to that.

No one seems to realize that the entire “Happy Holidays” thing was commanded from corporate headquarters.

Some time in the nineties, all corporate Christmas parties, including those of Fox “news” were decreed to be Holiday parties.

    In the name of ‘diversity’.

    .

And, in an totally unrelated coincidence, that was the same time the number H-1b visas exploded and corporations began replacing masses of tech workers with low paid substitutes from various Asian countries.

    .

Why is Trudeau perpetuating this mythical “War on Christmas”? I’ve never met a non-Christian person who was offended by “Merry Christmas”. They might offer a different holiday greeting, but wouldn’t criticize people just for celebrating Christmas. I’m calling BS on this comic!

I have never ever met ANYONE who complained about someone saying Merry Christmas to them. And that includes my non-Christian friends. The ONLY people I’ve heard complaining are those who get their panties in a twist about someone saying Happy Holidays to them.

Seems like everyone missed that the so-called Christian is acting very non-Christian by throwing his guest out of his house. WWJD?

Gotta love CINOs (Christians in name only), who claim to follow Jesus but don’t follow his teachings.

It is funny to me to hear right-wingers complain about GT being divisive. Of course, there are plenty of righties who could be considered divisive. Unfortunately, I think divisive is a very mild adjective for their side. Again, if you don’t like GT, I would urge you to not waste your time reading him. GT has always had a point of view and it is not a right-wing point of view. He has the right to have his own view and to express it. I don’t challenge the right of right-wingers to have a different point of view or to express themselves. I am not interested in checking out the right-wing cartoonists, but I know they have the right to exist.

Trump’s ‘Merry Christmas’ pledge fails to manifest at his own businesses

Despite railing against political correctness, the word ‘Christmas’ is curiously absent from Trump’s stores, restaurants and hotels

“Political Correctness” is also misrepresented by the Reich Wing. Their side promotes bullying and being crass to people. PC is all about cordiality and social etiquette. Not censorship.

What I’ve seen (from clips) is that, although Fox (and other right leaning media) talks about a war on Christmas, they themselves, and in their advertisements, use the Happy Holidays pretty much exclusively. S’funny, on the kids YTV, they ducked it completely by running a Merry Everything campaign.
