Here in Spain the green light shows a person walking, the red is someone standing still. We taught our nephew to “wait for the Martian.” Though who decided Martians are green I couldn’t tell you.
My older sister insisted that if you see a red STOP sign, you had to wait until it turned green and said GO. I think she just didn’t want me to come home.
This is a great early Peanuts that I think shows the direction Schulz will take the strip in the future: a little obtuse, somewhat obscure, humor more for adults than kids.
Temprarily now seems to be about two to five seconds when it takes ten to twenty seconds to cross a street, depending on how wide the street is. It’s no long Walk/Don’t Walk. Now it’s Run and Hit Your Top Speed in a Quarter of a Second/Don’t Run. And even then it might not matter to some drivers.

At least no one is going to speed through the “Yellow” light.

How long should you have to wait to decide if the change is permanent?

“Cross at the green, not in between.” Anyone here remember that?

A literalist will never make it across the street.

Permanently never cross the street until the light turns temporarily green.
