Eh, they’ll never land on the moon, such silliness. Just like this television thing is a fad, radio will always be king.

You should look stuff up, Lucy. Then you’d know the expression “rule of thumb” has a terrible origin.

Years later, Armstrong and Aldrin would prove her wrong.

As I recall, the nicknames of the command module and LEM for one if the missions was Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

♫ Oh the big becomes the little♫ when you see it back a bit.♫ The huge becomes the dinky♫ which is just the opposite♫ of the larger that gets smaller,♫ it never seems to quit -♫ That’s about the size of it.

♫ That’s about the size;♫ where you put your eyes♫ That’s about the size of it.

Fake news as always. If they went to the Moon, then why are they not using the same rocket design, why didn’t China and India scoot over to the US welcome centre, and plant their own flags, we were here also? They are still looking I guess.

Here’s my thumb an arm’s distance away. Here’s my thumb in your eye.

    Which looks bigger?

    Which is bigger?

Impressive that Schulz mentioned the possibility of going to the Moon this early; this comic not only came out before any humans had been to space, it even predates Sputnik.

Wasn’t there a song a song on Sesame Street that went “It’s about the size, where you put your eyes, that’s about the size of it”?

Lucy doesn’t look things up, because she can’t conceive of any source knowing more than she does.

Too bad that Lucy apparently has never read the lovely story, Many Moons, by James Thurber. Might have given her a different perspective.

But fortunately as you approach the moon, you get smaller as well, so the proportion works out.

Rule of thumb: If you put out your thumb and it just covers the moon, that means they’re the same size. It also means they’re at the same distance. That’s logic for you!
