When I was a kid, we had “trust boxes.” There was a place to put money, but the door had no locking mechanism whatsoever – it was just a door. Those days are long gone!
What a seemingly nice city. The benches are benches and look like someone could sleep on them if need be. So many cities are turning their bus stop and park benches into seats the require one to work at it to keep from falling off. and nothing that would allow one to stretch out or even curl up and get some sleep.
My son-law who looks about like that, maybe longer beard, was sitting out side of home depot in very Mormon town and a little girl walked up and handed him a dollar. He works for railroad and makes a good living. We all had a good laugh.

What gave Earl the idea the man (who could just be a trucker) is a panhandler?

A friend in need is a friend indeed…and Earl didn’t even know he was a friend.

This is why you never look down on people! You never know who you’ll need to help you out one day!

Why the type cast when the guy is dressed normally for the country. earl is the one that looks strange. Maybe it’s Julian Edelman?

I am so annoyed that our newspaper (The Star-Ledger of NJ) has discontinued Pickles, one of my favorite strips! Happy I can read it here.

Sad to say but “pan handlers” are more likely to share what little they have than the affluent.

He’s a lumberjack and he’s OK…

It’s the Sunday paper, of course, so the “change” is gonna be a hurtfully large amount.
You’ll note where I’m reading the comics…

You can still find newspaper vending machines? They took the one out of our apartment complex a couple years ago!
